Shanag (in reference to black-hatted dancers in the Buddhist Tsam Festival) is a genus of dromaeosaurid dinosaur from the Early Cretaceous Period of Mongolia. Shanag bears a strong resemblance to primitive Chinese dromaeosaurids such as Microraptor and Sinornithosaurus, suggesting a close similarity between the fauna of the Öösh deposits where Shanag was found, and the Jehol biota of China (such as the animals found in the Yixian Formation), during the Early Cretaceous.[1]
The type species of Shanag is S. ashile.

The holotype of S. ashile, IGM 100/1119, is composed of a nearly complete right maxilla, dentary, and a partial splenial.
