Shake it up Şekerim, (Shake it up, sweetheart) "Shekerim" (pronounced [ʃɛkɛˈɾim]), is the Turkish entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2007, held in Helsinki 2007. It placed 4th, with 163 points.
The artist, Kenan Doğulu, is recognised as a pop icon in Turkey, and had produced the hit song Çakkıdı in 2006. He had submitted three songs to the Eurovision song contest 2007, out of which Shekerim was chosen.
[edit] Chorus And Lyrics
Shekerim has a hip hop melody resembling that of Çakkıdı. An electric guitar bass line can be heard as an introduction. The song then blends in with Anatolian music with the indigenous Saz instrument popular among Balkan and neighbours of Turkey including Armenia, Greece, Azerbaijan and Iran. The chorus then starts, whilst the song pauses at about the mid point, traditional Turkish music similar to the Horon dancers is heard.
