Selena Gomez (born July 22, 1992) is an American child actress and singer. She is currently starring as Alex Russo on the Disney Channel Original Series, Wizards of Waverly Place. Gomez also has a career as a singer, and has recorded two songs for Walt Disney Records and sang several songs while on Barney & Friends alongside with her Barney co-star Demi Lovato.

Acting career
Selena Gomez was born in New York City, and raised in Grand Prairie, Texas. Her first role was on Barney & Friends as Gianna. She was discovered by Disney in a nation wide Disney talent search when she was 10 years old. In 2006, she guest starred in the second-season of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody as Gwen in the episode A Midsummer's Nightmare.
Also in 2007, she appeared in the second-season episodes of Hannah Montana as Mikayla, a pop star who is a rival of Hannah Montana.
She currently stars as Alex Russo in Wizards of Waverly Place, which premiered on October 2007 on Disney Channel.
She is also currently co-starring with Drew Seeley in the sequel to the hit movie A Cinderella Story called Another Cinderella Story as the main character Mary.

Personal Life
Selena is best friends with fellow Barney and Friends actress Demi Lovato and the pair make YouTube Webcam videos together. Their channel is therealdemilovato. When asked a question of how long the pair have been friends, Demi answered "when I asked her to sit on my jacket and draw with crayons (at the Barney auditions)". Selena is also making YouTube videos with Wizards of Waverly Place co-star Jennifer Stone. Their channel is SelGomez. As well as the Jonas Brothers, Selena wears a purity ring[1] on her left ring ringer that says "True Love Waits". When asked if she and her t.v. brothers have a relationship off screen she answered "They basically ARE my brothers; they're my real family. My mom laughs at me all the time because we're constantly in touch with one another off the set, we're always calling. They're always there for me, and it's torture when I can't see them every day. We do fight like brothers and sisters sometimes, but mostly we play around and joke around. I don't have any real life siblings so this way I can have brothers".[2]
