Sektzia Nes Tziona F.C. (Hebrew: מועדון כדורגל סקציה נס ציונה, Moadon Kaduregel Sektzia Nes Tziona) are a football club from the southern Israeli city of Ness Ziona. They are currently in Liga Artzit, the third level of Israeli football. Home matches are played at the Ness Ziona Stadium.
[edit] History
The club was founded as SK Nes Tziona in 1956, and ten years later were promoted to the top division, then called Liga Leumit. Due to the interruption caused by the Six-Day War, the 1966-7 and 1967-8 seasons were combined into one 60-match competition (clubs played each other home and away twice). They managed only eight wins and were relegated. This was to be their only appearance in the top division to date.
Over the next four decades, the club slipped into the lower divisions. After finishing bottom of Liga Alef (the fourth tier) in 2000-1, they folded, and were reborn as Ironi Nes Tziona, starting again in Liga Gimel, the sixth and lowest level of Israeli football.
In 2003-4, the club won their division of Liga Gimel, and were promoted to Liga Bet. The next season, they finished as runners-up to Hapoel Arad. However, the club were promoted in place of Arad due to the latter's poor stadium. The club were renamed again in the summer of 2005, becoming Sektzia Nes Tziona (a Hebrewisation of the English word "Section"). The 2005-6 season saw a third successive promotion as the club won Liga Alef South and promotion to Liga Artzit.
