Located in Cumerland County off U.S. Route 302 between Naples and South Casco, it was opened in 1938 and was one of the original five state parks. The park is mostly forested, covering 1,400 acres (5.7 km²) and is open year round.[1] Popular attractions include the Day Park and Camping Area.

[edit] Campground

The campground is open from May 1 to October 15 and has many facilities, including two public boat launches, 250 campground sites, and bathrooms. It is split into two main camping areas--Naples Beach and Witch Cove. Both areas feature beaches, boating ramps, and bathrooms with flush toilets and showers.

In the winter between the 2006 and 2007 summer seasons, electricity and water were added to 95 of the sites in Witch Cove. Prior to that year, only campsites adjacent to the bathrooms had power and water. Sites also feature tables and fireplaces.

[edit] Recreation

The lake itself is one of the most popular attractions of the park, allowing for boating and swimming. Hiking and biking trails are also located in and around the park.

Naples village is located several miles away and offers restaurants, boating, swimming, fishing, and other recreational facilities. Also nearby is the Songo Lock, the last existing of 28 locks built for the 50-mile (80 km) Cumberland and Oxford Canal.[2]
