Sean McHugh (born May 27, 1982) is an American football tight end with the Detroit Lions in the National Football League. He played high school football for Chagrin Falls High School in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. He played fullback and tight end while attending Pennsylvania State University.

[edit] High School Athletics
McHugh played running back and linebacker at Chagrin Falls High School for the football team from 1996-1999, where he lettered all four years. McHugh rushed for 2,000 yards as a senior, and was named to the Prep Star All-American Dream Team. He also lettered in wrestling in his junior and senior year.

McHugh was a four year letterman at Penn State from 2000-2003, starting at fullback his junior and senior seasons. During his career, McHugh ran 82 times for 322 yards and 6 touchdowns. He also made 44 catches for 297 yards and one touchdown.

McHugh was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2004, in the seventh round (241st overall). He made his NFL debut for the Green Bay Packers at Carolina on September 13, 2004. In 2006, McHugh finished with three receptions for 25 yards, in six games with two starts. McHugh first saw action as a fullback on October 22, 2006 in a game against the New York Jets, while both Cory Schlesinger and Shawn Bryson were injured. His first career reception came against the Falcons on November 5, 2006 for seven yards. In 2007, McHugh has started at either tight end or fullback in 9 out of 12 games Detroit has played, with McHugh being inactive, against Tampa Bay on October 21, 2007 with a hand injury. McHugh has made 11 catches, for 178 yards, including a career long 46 yard reception, on November 4 against Denver.
