[edit] Playing career

Connor began his career at Distillery in the Irish League where he played for one full season before moving to Port Vale F.C.. He struggled to gain a regular first team place and went out on loan to Macclesfield Town before returning home and signing for Ards. Unfortunately for Sean, he was involved in a bad car crash soon after signing and broke his chest bone, some ribs, punctured his lung and damaged his left leg. He made a comeback with Cliftonville but he wasn't the same and he quit playing.

[edit] Managerial career

After spending some time as press officer for Birmingham City, Connor moved to America where he coached in the "A" League under John McGinlay for Cincinnati Riverhawks, Boston Bulldogs and Lafayette Swampcats.

He was appointed Sligo Rovers manager in September 2004 and in November 2005 he won the 1st Division in his first season of senior management with Sligo Rovers. He then finished 5th in the Premier Division and reached the semi final of the FAI Cup.

Connor left Sligo Rovers on 2 November 2006 and was unveiled as the manager of Bohemian FC on 17 November 2006. Amongst his first acts as manager were the signing of a number of promising players, Harpal Singh (ex-Sligo Rovers), Owen Heary (ex-Shels) and Glen Crowe (ex-Shels). His first pre-season games in charge of Bohemians' included wins against Lisburn Distillery and Donegal Celtic, and an impressive draw with Scottish Premier Division side Aberdeen.

His first league game in charge of Bohs came on the 9th March 2007, in a scoreless draw against Drogheda United. At first, he showed signs of turning Bohs into genuine contenders for honours with the wins against St Patricks Athletic in the league and Drogheda United in the FAI Cup the most notable victories. However some inconsistent performances saw their league challenge fade away and Bohs finish without a Setanta Cup place. Under his management, Bohs finished 3rd in the league and reached the League Cup Final and the FAI Cup Semi-Final, despite an unpopular style of football and some questionable signings.

On December 19th 2007 his contact as manager at Bohs was terminated for undisclosed reasons.

[edit] Trivia

While Connor was manager of Sligo Rovers, he participated in a charity event where local celebrities attempted to break various Guinness Book of Records feats. Connor attempted to break the record for the most grains of Coco-Pops eaten in 60 seconds, but failed by 14.
