Talk:Scorpion (disambiguation)

[edit] Scorpions
Just so we're clear as to why "scorpions" is redirected here; it is long standing Wikipedia precedent that plural versions of terms that have a Wikipedia article or disambiguation pages be re-directed to the primary term page. Besides, the frist 2 pages (19 listings) of Google search results for "scorpions" brings up 13 related to the arthropod and 6 are related to the German band [1]. "Scorpions" is just as much of a general term with multiple meanings as "scorpion." It's for cases like this are why there are disambiguation pages. --Oakshade 17:42, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
- There are currently 119 mainspace links to Scorpions. Of those, 102 (86%) are intending to refer to the band. There is an overwhelming case for redirecting Scorpions to Scorpions (band) (I have already added a redirect warning on that page back to Scorpion (disambiguation). If you disagree, I suggest you take it upon yourself to correct all 102 links. Then you'll be in a position to argue. If you're prepared to do that, then I'll take on fixing the remaining 17 to point to Scorpion. Colonies Chris 13:11, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- I'll do a few, but because editors of those pages made an error doesn't mean a proper re-direct must be adjusted to be an improper one. Over time, those editors will correct those links. --Oakshade 00:40, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
- I did more than a few. Most, if not all, of the "Scorpions" non-talk page links meant for the German band go directly to that band's article instead of here now. --Oakshade 01:39, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
I decided to list the two main queries - Scorpion and Scorpions (band) at the top, instead of the having the long list of "general" entries at the top, and the band hidden half way down the article. I then added the In general-section, where everything that didn't fit into other sections went, and I moved the In music section above In military. If that was somehow wrong or unsuitable you're welcome to change it back; I just thought it might make browsing through this disambig slightly easier. --Leviel (talk) 10:11, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
