"An abundance of landmarks (Disneyland, Anaheim Stadium, and the John Wayne Airport) along the Orange County portion of its route..." John Wayne Airport is a bit of a drive from the 5. It's actually off the 405. I didn't check to see who wrote this, but if no one objects, I think it ought to be changed. There are plenty of instances where someone might take the 5 on the way to SNA, but I'd be interested to know how much traffic on the route is attributable to the airport, and maintain that the language here is misleading.LordSnow 19:38, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

    • You are right, John Wayne Airport isn't near the 5 at all. It is much closer to the 405/55 Junction. I don't understand how anyone could object, the Santa Ana Freeway has little association with John Wayne Airport at all.

The control city on the northbound 5 from just south of the El Toro Y is now Santa Ana (presumably until the 5/55 interchange). Does anybody know when this change (from Los Angeles) took place?--Truthiness 05:10, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

What is a control city? Alanraywiki 15:01, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

A control city is generally the next major destination city that is signed for traffic flowing in a particular direction on a particular segment of a particular freeway. For example, all overhead reassurance signs on Interstate 5 northbound between Los Angeles and Sacramento always show the I-5 shield followed by "Sacramento." See the article on control city. --Coolcaesar 12:50, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
