[edit] Alternate names

I have recently seen references to a "Samlaut National Park" and a "Samlaut Protected Area." I presume these refer to this article "Samlaut Multiple Use Area." There are a few possibilities:

  1. Other writers simply got the name wrong, and Samlaut is really called a "Multiple Use Area."
  2. Cambodia has changed the designation.
  3. One or both are really different properties.

I went ahead and created redirects here for now. If someone finds out that #2 is correct, please rename the article if you are so motivated. If #3 is correct, please feel free to change my redirects to stubs. — Eoghanacht talk 14:10, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

I checked on the IUCN database, and found that it is listed there as a "Multiple Use Management Area." Until I see some better data, I am hesitant to move the article to a new name, but I will add one more redirect. — Eoghanacht talk 16:22, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
I think you've got the right name already. Technically it's a protected area (similar to a national park) but some kinds of development are allowed - I believe multiple use area is a designation with some handy technical loopholes for resource exploitation. That's what I believe (a couple of these multiple use areas have been designated recently) but I'd have to check the legislation to be positive. Cheers, Paxse 10:11, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

I work closely with MJP's Executive Director, Stephan Bognar, who has requested that I change this Wikipedia entry - including changing the name from "Samlaut Multiple Use Area" to "Samlaut Protected Area" - the other changes I made to the content were at his request and shold not be altered. How do I cange the title? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.163.59.17 (talk) 19:17, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
