Sammarinese Communist Refoundation

San Marinese Communist Refoundation (Rifondazione Comunista Sammarinese), political party in San Marino. RCS was formed when the old Communist Party of San Marino evolved into the Party of Democrats. RCS is modelled after the Communist Refoundation Party of Italy.
The party won 3.38% of the votes in the 2001 parliamentary election. It is a founding member of the Party of the European Left and publishes the magazine Rifondinforma. Its party leader is Ivan Foschi.
In the 2006 parliamentary election, the party stood as part of the United Left group which includes itself and Zona Franca, which won 8.67% of the votes and 5 seats. The party is currently part of the governing coalition which includes the Popular Alliance of Sammarinese Democrats for the Republic and the Party of Socialists and Democrats as part of United Left.
