Of the noted water reference, are Silver Lake (once called Shellfish Lake), Camp Lake, Center Lake, Rock Lake(at one time called Marshall Lake) Voltz Lake, Cross Lake, Hooker Lake, Montgomery Lake, Lake George, Paddock Lake and the Fox River. It is because of this water, that the area became very populated with ice harvesting enterprises in the late 1800s and early 1900s, supplying ice to both Kenosha City and Chicago via the two rail lines that criss crossed the area. The boarding houses of these businesses provided the hotels that later became resorts.

There are several cemeteries in this town - Liberty Cemetery, Salem Mound and Holy Name of Jesus, a Catholic Cemetery. The Wilmot Cemetery, though often thought to be in Salem, is in fact, in Randall.
