Salalah Airport (IATA:SLL, ICAO:OOSA) is the Sultanate of Oman's second gateway. It is located on the Salalah coastal plain, 5.5 kilometers northeast of Salalah's city centre. It is currently mostly used as a domestic airport, but during the Khareef season Salalah airport receives numerous charter flights from neighbouring Gulf countries and beyond. At the moment the airport is being expanded and modernized. The initial stage of expansion is scheduled for completion in November 2011, delayed one year mainly because of the cyclone Gonu, and the new terminal will be able to accommodate 2 million passengers per year. Once the airport has been fully expanded the airport will be able to handle 10 million passengers.[1]
