Rye St Antony School is an independent Roman Catholic boarding and day school for girls in Headington, Oxford, England.
[edit] History
The school was founded by Elizabeth Rendall and Ivy King in 1930, after a visit to the Church of St Anthony in Rye in Sussex.
[edit] Present Day
The school is known as just "Rye" to its pupils and staff. Rye is an independent school for girls.
Despite holding Mass once a month, and being an openly Roman Catholic school, it is not necessary to be Roman Catholic to attend the school. There are in fact relatively few Roman Catholics at the school, pupils or teachers.
The school has a newspaper for pupils called the Rye Perspective, which is run by a group of the girls and an English teacher.
The school has a lay chaplain available to pupils for spiritual counseling.
The school will soon have a brand new sports hall. It is due to be completed in September '08.
The original St Trinians books were based around Rye St Antony and it was also mentioned in Chinese Cinderella by Adeline Yen Mah.
