Ruth joined KSL Television in 1992 as anchorwoman for Eyewitness News Saturday Morning. She then was assigned to co-anchor Eyewitness News at Noon with Steve Eagar. Ruth became a quick favorite to Utah viewers and two and a half years later, she joined Dick Nourse on the Top-Rated Eyewitness News at 10pm.

After 10 years, Ruth Todd and KSL parted ways after both could not come to terms on a new contract deal. She left channel 5 and joined KTVX channel 4 on December 13, 2001.

Ruth had joined News 4 Utah as co-anchor of "ABC 4 News" at 10pm. She was first paired with veteran Salt Lake news anchor Randall Carlisle. In 2004, Ruth was teamed with veteran anchor Terry Wood. From 1994-1996, Ruth, Randall and Terry were all late-night competitors on different stations (Ruth on Channel 5, Randall on Channel 4 and Terry on Channel 2).

[edit] The Future of Her Career

On Sunday February 25, 2007, the Deseret Morning News, a Salt Lake City newspaper, had reported that Ruth's five-year deal with KTVX would expire on February 28, 2007. It may become Ruth Todd's final On-Air appearance on Utah Airwaves [1] and mark her last appearance on the air after 15 years as one of Utah's most visible and popular journalists [2]. She said station managers told her last year they wanted to offer her a new contract, but that negotiations stopped after parent company Clear Channel Communications announced plans in November to sell all its television stations [3].
