[edit] Life

Brummund was born in Johannisburg (Pisz), East Prussia. Her more conventionally accepted work as a professional chemist supported her while she undertook research in the then stigmatized field of astrology.

[edit] Studies

Her scientific astrological studies began in 1956 with Edith Wangemann of the "School of Cosmobiology." This eventually led to her study of the source material on which Cosmobiology was originally based, leading to her study with Hamburg School of Astrology practitioner Ludwig Rudolph in 1969. Concurrent with her studies was a wave of traditionalism among Hamburg School astrologers, led by Hermann Lefeldt — Brummund deliberately chose the more progressive astrological approaches based on contemporary research rather than strict astrological tradition.

[edit] Work

This led her to take a leading role in Hamburg School of Astrology research after the death of Lefeldt, where she built further on her contemporary studies with Ludwig Rudolph, abandoning traditional astrological paradigms such as "houses," "soft aspects," and "rulerships"; eventually she developed increasingly more comprehensive insights into the correlations of astrological midpoints and 16th-harmonic conjunctions ("clusters").

As Brummund strived to keep pace with international astrological developments, she added the psychological dimension to her interpretive references, the first of which was Astropsychologische Charaktermerkmale (1972), followed by the 1st edition Regelwerk Neufassung prototype in 1979 and then the substantially expanded 2nd Edition, Regelwerk Neufassung, in 1990. The latter comprehensive astrological midpoint reference, with subsequent updates, is now incorporated in both German and English into the special Uranian astrology software program produced by Aureas Software in Paris, affiliated with the "Cahiers du RAMS" astrological research journal. The English translation of her book is called the Brummund Rulebook. The Uranian computer program has been designed to carry forward the more progressive scientific thread of Alfred Witte's early astrological research, further cultivated by Ludwig Rudolph, and then by Brummund. She carefully distinguishes herself from other traditional Hamburg School astrologers by terminating use of relatively ambiguous or inefficient techniques (such as houses, soft aspects, and sensitive points), working only with the methods proven most efficient in 20th and 21st century astrological research: midpoints and hard angles/aspects. In doing so, she departs sharply from traditionalist "Classical astrology" movements interlaced with the widely-familiar pop media and entertainment astrology, and for that purpose established the new "School of Uranische Astrologie, to exclude the historical materials of Hermann Lefeldt and his traditionalist adherents.

Brummund's research has also included substantial work with locational astrology, including the geodetic-based Local MC (LM) and Local Ascendant (LA) of astrologer A.M. Grimm.

Brummund's enthusiasm for the frontiers of science (as she includes study of Trans-Neptunian factors) have stayed with her all the way into her 80s as she works with astrologers in the United States, Thailand, and France to translate her reference works into English, Thai, and French.

After Brummund's break with the Hamburg School of Astrology, her work was downplayed by astrological traditionalists who sometimes sought to belittle her contributions to modern scientific astrology in relation their historical perspectives and properties.
