[edit] Re:Blackbird
It's quite all right. I should probably had looked up the policy before blindly rushing in. Nousernameslefttalk and matrix? 01:46, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] happy Mango season
Have a shlice of mango cheek...well, I am up to my armpits in the things. Yuletide means lots and lots of mangos, as well as turkey and ham and ice-cream and pressies. Were on special so I bought 3 crates for AU$20 and now I have both crispers in the refrigerator full and even with everyone eating two of the ##$@& things every mealtime... I am a bit mangoed out so I thought I'd spread the goodwill around....cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 05:18, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Happy New Years
Happy New Year to you and thank you for your kind note. No, I am not ornithologically-oriented; it just seemed like a funny kind of username, given its comical implications (I seem to recall always hearing that particular bird's name when I was watching the cartoons as a kid).
Yours, Yellow-bellied sapsucker (talk) 17:56, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] White-eyed River Martin
passed GA within hours of nomination, thanks for the invaluable yearbook additions. Jimfbleak (talk) 16:12, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Andean Condor
I've done some work on the article in the past few days, and I wondered if you knew what reference the egg measurements and incubation period was taken from, since I'm working from Google Books, and nothing on there has the specific measurements. Thanks! --heyjude. 17:32, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
- I was pretty busy in real life during December between schoolwork and the holidays, but I've returned! As far as the specifications in the article, I haven't checked Google scholar or any websites yet, so they must be out there somewhere. Cheers, heyjude. 21:24, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for all the websites! I've added most of them to the page now, and I think it's looking pretty good now. Cheers, heyjude. 02:27, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Imperial triple crown jewels
Your Imperial Majesty, keep up the great work! Best regards, DurovaCharge! 23:25, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Chiffchaff
I've been away for a couple of days birding, will sort Chiffchaff per your comments and MPF's asap. Thanks for your help with this and Blackbird (star bird for the trip: [[White-crowned Sparrow, only about the fourth for the UK|) Jimfbleak (talk) 15:45, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Superb Fairy-wren
The image just personally annoys me. I have seen many a Superb Fairy-wren (without looking for them), and I have never seen them perched together, so the image seems to mischaracterizes their behaviour. If the image had both the original photos simply placed side by side I would be happier. —Pengo 21:23, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] new wikiproject
I am proposing that we make a birds of prey wikiproject, and the proposal is on the wikiproject birds talk page, and i was wondering, if maby you would be interested in helping? -Tobi4242 (talk) 00:35, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Sorry
On Condor, I put the vandalism back in by accident. Just an apology. Redbull47 (talk) 02:44, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] W-c Sparrow
Very timely of Featured Picture - as I'm sure you appreciate, it's occurrence here is about equivalent to you getting a Chiffchaff in your garden! Jimfbleak (talk) 06:56, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] IP 212.10.85.172
Thank you very much for the welcome, but I was just too lazy to log in. As mentioned on my user page it is a bit of a bad habit I have. Regardless, the welcome to IP's that make useful contributions is a very good idea. I think I'll start using that, too. Rabo3 (talk) 03:52, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Barnstar
Thanks for the award! I'm a bit wary now about submitting House Martin to fac, since that could be opposed on the same basis, so I'm secretly working on another cosmopolitan sp, the Northern Pintail, Jimfbleak (talk) 06:44, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] FLC box
No worries, I was cleaning up the categories and found quite a few stray ones, so you aren't alone! ;) Woody (talk) 21:40, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] King Vulture
You can download the text; although it's not the site I used a quick search this am came up with this. The text is searchable, but a bit iffy because of words split across lines and print style (eg "s" printed like "f", and "ae" as joined letter. If you search under genus "Vultur" you should find the third species is papa from India occidentali. No idea where the other name came from. Jimfbleak (talk) 06:16, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- thanks for the helpful edits to Northern Pintail, please check if the changes I've made make sense. Incidentally I'm going to be away for a couple of days now. Jimfbleak (talk) 06:35, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Congrats!
The Cape Fear Shiner article, which you worked very hard on, has been featured at Portal:North Carolina. Keep up the great work! --Mr.crabby (Talk) 17:35, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Vampire is now featured!
[edit] Pintail
Thanks, I'll add that to the Pintail FA later. I'm sure the reason it has no ssp is that it wanders like this all the time, keeping the gene pool stirred up, but is only ringing recoveries that reveal this - since it has no identifiable ssp! Jimfbleak (talk) 06:33, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] The Final Push
In my opinion, it doesn't need the genera, but it might be best to ask on the FT talk page first, just in case. As for the taxoboxes, I think that listing them as "uncertain" makes the most sense, since it is under dispute. The picture of the American Black Vulture would be great, especially as the one that is there now doesn't give a good view of any of the birds. Hopefully this topic will be finished soon! I have midterms starting tomorrow, meaning that I have a 4 hour school day, so depending on how much I decide to study, I might have a lot of time to work on wikipedia. Also, good luck on your SATs! Cheers, heyjude. 20:00, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] A potential chat session with Bill Oakley
We at the Simpsons WikiProject have managed to get into contact with the one and only Bill Oakley (who showran The Simpsons from season 7 to 8) and he has agreed to send us some images and to do an IRC chat in the future with us so that we can ask questions about things that we can use in articles. The transcript of this chat will hopefully be posted at NoHomers.net, which I think will be a good enough sorce. Failing that, we'll try The Simpsons Archive. Every member is more than welcome to take part, which will be held at our #wpsimpsons channel. Because not everyone will be able to make the chat, a page has been made where any member can post questions that can be asked. Remember, no fan questions, and due to a lack of time, try to limit it to ones that will help improve an article. That page is here. If you have any questions, ask myself, Xihix (who is the one in contact with him) or post it at WT:DOH, which is where any future updates will be posted. -- Scorpion0422 02:53, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Botswanan Weaver ID
I've been flipping through Flickr and found this image. The only thing that I can think of, from the fact its Botswanan and by looking at my field guide, is that its a Holub's Golden-weaver. However, the drawing doesn't appear as vibrant a yellow. Does anyone want to confirm or dispute me before uploading? Thanks. Rufous-crowned Sparrow (talk) 03:43, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Actually...
I wasn't going to do any more fairy wrens but someone added a heap of info into White-winged Fairy-wren, so I thought I would keep going. I am waiting on a map and a couple of pics, and there are a couple of bits and pieces to add before I take it to FAC but not much. Would you mind giving it a look-over for prose glitches etc..Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 04:20, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] {{Pittidae-stub}}
Hi - I see you have recently created one or more new stub types. As it states at Wikipedia:Stub, at the top of most stub categories, and in many other places on Wikipedia, it is recommended that new stub types are proposed prior to creation at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals. This is partly in order to check whether the new stub type is already covered by existing stub types, whether it is named according to stub naming guidelines, whether it is otherwise correctly formatted, whether it reaches the standard threshold for creation of a new stub type, and whether it crosses existing stub type hierarchies, and partly so that those who regularly deal with stub articles know what stub types are likely to need re-sorting soon. Your new stub type is currently listed at WP:WSS/D - please feel free to make any comments there as to any rationale for this stub type. And please, in future, consider proposing new stub types first! Grutness...wha? 02:14, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

- Hi RcS, have reduced the supercilium whiteness behind the eye and shortened the tail a wee bit after looking at some more pictures. You are most welcome to use the picture without having to seek my permission. Cheers.
