Rue d'Aerschot

The Aarschotstraat (Dutch) or Rue d'Aerschot (French) is a street in Brussels, Belgium that is famous for having brothels from its beginning up to its end, and is one of the hotspots of Brussels underground nightlife.
It is located next to the North Station, one of the 4 main train stations in Brussels.
Although widely tolerated by police and local authorities, this place has however been lately the target of joint government/police operations to track down human trafficking operatives, mostly aimed at breaking down criminal circles luring girls from Central and Eastern Europe countries in getting a better life in the West.
Non-profit associations also operate in the area, mainly women's group providing support and counseling to prostitutes.
The street is also characterized by very cheap lodging.
It is not far from the City centre of Brussels, and just next to the financial and business district, where the Brussels World Trade Center is located.
