Roxanna Panufnik

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Roxanna Panufnik (born 1968) is a British composer of Polish heritage. She is the daughter of the composer and conductor Sir Andrzej Panufnik.

Roxanna Panufnik studied composition at the Royal Academy of Music in London. She wrote and presented BBC Radio 3’s Composer of the Week on her father in November 1993. In 1995 and 1996, she was selected as the first-ever Composer-in-Residence of the Royal County of Berkshire. As part of that appointment, she taught composition to 300 school children. Other educational work she has done includes programs for the Royal College of Organists and the City of London Sinfonia, and a program for school children in Barbados built around her work Inkle and Yarico.

She spent almost a year composing 25 minutes of music to accompany the special Mass celebrating the 75th birthday of the ailing (he died a year later from cancer) Basil Cardinal Hume in 1998.
