Ross Kemp on Gangs is a BAFTA award-winning documentary series shown on Sky One then repeated on Sky Three. On May 20th 2007 the series won a BAFTA award for best factual series. The show is hosted by actor Ross Kemp, best known for his role of Grant Mitchell in the show EastEnders. Kemp's character on Eastenders has been involved in several storylines involving gangs.
On the show Kemp travels around the world talking to gang members, locals who have been affected by gang violence, and the authorities who are attempting to combat the problem. In each episode he attempts to establish contacts within the gangs who can arrange interviews with the gangs' leaders.
The first episode of the third series of the program was shown on Sky One on Monday 1st October at 9pm.

Episode 1 - Rio de Janeiro
In Rio de Janeiro, Ross examines the war waging not only between the authorities and the drugs trade, but the rival gangs that are locked in bitter feuds for control of the slums. Ross travels into troubled regions of the city to uncover how far things have gone and if there is any way back. In the process Ross discovers the extent of inequality in Brazil's society.
Episode 2 - New Zealand
Ross explores the violent underworld beneath the rolling hills and sweeping valleys of one on of the most beautiful countries on earth. He tracks down The Mongrel Mob who are responsible for countless violent assaults.
Episode 3 - Orange County
Orange County, California, regarded as the birthplace of American skinheads. The recent amalgamation of various factions has led to the creation of the Orange County Skinheads where Ross gets to grips with the impact of this group on a concerned community.
Episode 4 - London
Ross Kemp visits London to investigate the multi cultural society that breeds international organised crime. Ross also speaks to ethnic minorities that feel they are alienated by society and the system.

Episode 1 - El Salvador
Ross travels to El Salvador to meet the "most dangerous gang in the world", MS13 (Mara Salvatrucha). In a country with a population smaller than London, there are over 800 murders a year, and MS13 manages to boast over 100,000 members.
Episode 2 - Moscow
Ross infiltrates Moscow’s vicious Neo-Nazi gangs to discover who is behind a recent wave of racist attacks and hate crimes; and uncovers the extent to which these groups are gaining power in the country.
Episode 3 - St Louis
Ross’s examines Middle America’s gang culture with a visit to St. Louis, Missouri; where he takes a look at how this Midwestern municipality with a population of 342,000 people, there are around 380,000 guns – and many of these are in the hands of gang members with apparent affiliations to gangs in Los Angeles.
Episode 4 - Cape Town
Ross explores the country’s multifaceted Number’s Gang which thrives on the over-crowded prisons. In Pollsmoor Prison Ross experiences the terrifying sensation of incarceration among vicious murderers, rapists, and violent armed-robbers. He receives first hand accounts of the police killings which are required for initiation into the gang.

Episode 1 - Jamaica
Kemp explores why Jamaica boasts the highest murder rate in the world; at the heart of the killings are two gangs with 10,000 members between them. Going under the knowledge that the gangs were originally created by Dons with strong political connections who controlled armed mobs to fight for votes, Kemp concludes that the gangs appear to have moved away from their political roots.
Episode 2 - Poland
In Poland, Kemp follows Neo-Nazi football hooligans. Ross experiences first hand just how dangerous it can be when he's tear-gassed at a football match as he shadows an elite police riot squad.
Episode 3 - Colombia
Exploring the Sicario assassin gangs which date back over forty years, Kemp interviews ex-killers and investigates the paramilitary forces which were supposed to disband a decade ago but appear to be making a deadly comeback. During his investigation, a woman who pledges to speak out is assassinated.
Episode 4 - East Timor
Kemp explores the Sacred Heart and Seven Seven gangs which have brought the country to the verge of collapse. Ross travels with the United Nations peace keepers, and witnesses the local crude street weapons and their illegal manufacturing process.
