Robin O. Andreasen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Robin O. Andreasen

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Robin O. Andreasen is a philosopher of science who specializes in the philosophy of biology and the philosophy of race and gender. In 2007 she was Associate Professor of Philosophy, Linguistics & Cognitive Science and Women's Studies at the University of Delaware.[1] She has a PhD in philosophy from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.[citation needed]

Andreason is known for her cladistic concept of race, first published in 1998, in the paper 'A New Perspective on the Race Debate' in The British Journal for Philosophy of Science. In this paper, she revived biological racial realism with the view that race can be understood as a natural kind in cladistic systematics if we define it as the set of infraspecific clades within biological species.
