Robert Litwak

Robert Litwak is the Director of the Division of International Security Studies at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. A prominent scholar of U.S. foreign policy, international security, and nonproliferation, Litwak was the Director for Nonproliferation with the National Security Council at the White House, prior to working at the Wilson Center.
His most recent book, Regime Change: U.S. Strategy through the Prism of 9/11 was published in 2007. Other publications include Rogue States and U.S. Foreign Policy: Containment After the Cold War (2000); Nuclear Proliferation after the Cold War (1994, co-editor); and Détente and the Nixon Doctrine: American Foreign Policy and the Pursuit of Stability, 1969-1976 (1984).
Litwak has held visiting fellowships at Harvard University, the International Institute for Strategic Studies, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the United States Institute of Peace. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Litwak holds a Doctorate in International Relations from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor's degree from Haverford College.
