[edit] Meteor image

I just noticed your additions to the Meteor article. They were quite good, but if I may say you might need to watch your spelling and capitalisation of nouns a bit more closely (I've fixed them though). Also, would you be able to provide a source for the image you uploaded as without it we can't use it. Also jpg is a very inefficient format for storing certain types of images (namely simple ones with relatively few colours such as a logo) and this logo would be much better suited to be stored in PNG, which I can convert it to if you can tell me the source (there's no point using the JPG you uploaded cause the JPG degradation has already happened). - RHeodt 19:23, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

Acutally, never mind. I just found it and uploaded it in PNG. - RHeodt 19:29, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Meteor_Eircom1.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Meteor_Eircom1.JPG. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you have questions about copyright tagging of images, post on Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags or User talk:Carnildo/images. 18:17, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:EircomNew.png

Thanks for uploading Image:EircomNew.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 16:06, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:EircomNewGrey.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:EircomNewGrey.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 18:36, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Eircom new.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Eircom new.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr/talk 12:26, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Scottish government logo.png

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Scottish government logo.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Spike Wilbury talk 14:46, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Apologies for not initially including the copyright for the logo of the Scottish Government in the article. I have now included he crown Copyright rights and added this to the logo. --  RÓNÁN   "Caint / Talk"  15:11, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Derry Infobox

If you look at the info box it's quite specified; it's official name. Now regardless of the renaming of the city council the city itself is still called Londonderry (indeed renaming the city would be a rather painful political process). The article itself is named Derry as a compromise on this, but the infobox usage is quite clear. So I'm afraid I'm undoing your revision. --Blowdart 19:49, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

It is unfortunate that so much time is still being spent with arguments over these Derry City and Londonderry county articles. Wikipedia, as an international organisation have made an excellent and impartial compromise with the naming issue. DERRY is the name of the article relating to the city as the majority of Derry's inhabitants and indeed the council wish it to be named so. LONDONDERRY is the name of the county article as this is how the people have voted in the article. I know unionists may argue that the official name is Londonderry and this cannot change, however the name was made official undemocratically by the British government of the time and not by the will of the Derry/Londonderry people. If there is going to be unsolicitated edits to change these articles to agree with others POV's then these problems will never cease! --  RÓNÁN   "Caint / Talk"  20:58, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] NI Infobox idea

I'd like to invite you to comment on my thoughts behind a specific set of NI infoboxes. I'm just mulling the idea over on my talk page. Thanks. --Blowdart 12:57, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Thabk you for the opertunity to have my opinion on the matter in yur discussion. I have commented on your discussion section. --  RÓNÁN   "Caint / Talk"  22:07, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Inappropriate retagging articles for speedy deletion

Please read WP:CSD. You are not allowed to retag something for speedy deletion if a previous speedy deletion tag has been removed by somebody other than the editor who wrote the article. As well, articles as full and long-standing as T-mobile would never be speedy deleted, but rather should be sent through WP:AFD. Thanks, JERRY talk contribs 23:44, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Jerry thank you for your input, however i have been monitoring this article for awhile and although i have highlighted blatent advertising on the T-Mobile article, this has not been dealt with by the author. Examples of this were on the T-Mobile USA section (which has been since removed), T-Mobile Montenegro, and T-Mobile UK (blatently highlighting product pricing) which is against the rules of Wikipedia. Unless this is dealt with a new article will need to be produced for the T-Mobile International Group of companies. --  RÓNÁN   "Caint / Talk"  23:48, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
I sympathesize with your concern. However it is very important to not retag articles for speedy deletion. Please use the WP:AFD and/ or WP:RFC processes instead. Thanks, JERRY talk contribs 23:53, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Possibly unfree Image:Esat.png

An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:Esat.png, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is disputed. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the image description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. --Chris.B (talk) 11:22, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your point of information regarding the former Esat Telecom logo. I have updated the details of this former trading logo accordingly and added reasons to justify its continuing use on the BT Ireland article. --  RÓNÁN   "Caint / Talk"  19:08, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Reunification of Ireland and the whole Archipelago

I don't disagree that the historic maltreatment of the Irish people century after century, which was indeed terrible, was the main reason for division of the old United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and it is completely understandable that they would be extremely reluctant to rejoin the union. However, this may change over time and certainly while Northern Ireland remains British the chances must be far greater. There are a lot of people born in the Irish Republic who have made the United Kingdom their home, whether in Northern Ireland or the mainland and who love living there. This is something to be welcomed and encouraged. It shows them what a modern democracy the UK is and there is nothing to be feared from living in the UK, it would just be nice if they could also live in the UK without having to leave the Irish Republic. Reunification is not something that would happen over night, but I think a devolved all island of Ireland nation within the United Kingdom that has responsibility for its own domestic affairs is the best compromise all round for all. It ends the division of not only the island of Ireland but the British Isles while keeping Northern Ireland within the Union but creating a new home rule parliament governing the whole island. We should get over our past differences as difficult as that may be and move forward by reuniting. If it wasn't for the English stuffing things up the first time, Ireland would be quite possibly still part of the UK today. We are just asking for a second chance to prove ourselves. Let us prove that a new flexible and modern union based on mutual respect and one that is a partenership of equals can work. There is no discrimination towards Catholics in the modern day United Kingdom except for their inability to become head of state, although that might change in the near future. Catholics also represent one of the biggest growing populations within the Union. There is also a possibility that the United Kingdom could become a republic itself in a few years. This is a major reason why many in the Irish Republic do no want to rejoin the United Kingdom, they do not agree with having a monarchy and wouldn't it make sense to have one president representing the whole British Isles elected by all the people rather than two. Ireland could still have its own prime minister. Certainly if the Queen or her successor were to lose the overseas realms, Canada, Australia and the others I would say to hell with it lets have a republic if it means the two largest islands of the British Isles can be united again like I believe they should be, and hopefully one day no matter how distant, will be again once more. YourPTR! (talk) 05:15, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

And of course no future union between Ireland and Great Britain would come about without a majority in the Irish Republic voting for such a move. I don't support any move to reunify the 26 counties with the rest of the British Isles politically by force or undemocratic means. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.135.98.208 (talk) 05:35, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:MeteorConsortium.png

Thank you for uploading Image:MeteorConsortium.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 15:54, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your feedback re: The Meteor Consortium logo. I have included the relevant details as requested. --  RÓNÁN   "Caint / Talk"  02:55, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
