The Rita-Express project begun after October 2005 primary elections in Sicily, in order to support "L'Unione"' chosen candidate for regional elections of May 28, 2006, Ms Rita Borsellino.

Its first aim was to bring Sicilian students outside Sicily back home to vote, organizing a special train. Something similar had been made in 2005 for Nichi Vendola in Puglia - but RitaExpress was even more ambitious: it was intended to do electoral campaign in Sicily.
