Richiar,

Thanks for writing to me about your current work on the article for The Urantia Book. Yes, Wazronk has taken issue on numerous occasions about "original research"...but this person is also a stickler for other Wikipedia rules as well, only dropping down their guard with the issue about Matthew Block's work which, IMO, is self published and crosses the line. However, I conceded to use it in the end, after all, because there is so little published material about The Urantia Book that fits within Wikipedia rules.

The majority of the article when I first came was centered around what Gardner had written. And in its own way created a slanted article (POV).

If the material you are summarizing with simpler, updated English is verifiable in the book, then you can use it! Just don't produce "new knowledge". Which, is what Block's self published articles do. :)

FWD: Right. Manifest Destiny and Texas Revolution are both good ideas. I went to the list of task forces and think it might be appropriate to have something in line with the era of development of the US, say "Pre-Civil War Task Force". That would include the Revolution, War of 1812, Mexican-American War. Then there is a developmental process, as the country evolves over time. Just a thought. Richiar 17:23, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

That is a great idea!!! A "Pre-American Civil War Task Force", it would be everything: from the French and Indian War, to The Revolution, then the War of 1812, plus internal conflicts like the Seminole War, and then the Texas Revolution, and the Mexican-American War, and the whole concept of Manifest Destiny! It's great! But my one and only concern is that is resembles the United States Military History Task Force a lot. But, on the other hand, our idea focuses on Pre-Civil War America and the United States Military History Task Force focuses on the US Army, and not a particular time period or war or conflict in general. What do you think?

FWD: It looks like from what I'm seeing, there shouldn't be any conflict. The US Military classification seems to have to do with units and men etc that are involved in the various battles and conflicts. In fact, the Mexican-American war was the lead-in to the Civil War. Everyone was jockying for position, and when the Civil War came along, the main guys got their experience in the MA war. There is a problems I think with the general classification system itself, but I'm researching it and leaving some comments on the main talk page. Anyway, it should be ok to relate the participants in the MA war to the US Military History project, and sort of have a "joint operation", if you will. Richiar 22:02, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Don't know about references, i copied that text straight from a newspaper, the Daily Mirror, not the most reliable of sources, but i do remember hearing about journalists using WikiScanner to trace edits, and that computers on the cia network had edited the nixon article, and they weren't the only ones, the vatican, disney and various congress members are just a few.--Jac16888 15:22, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

I have an article I am working on: I think I would like to make a diagrame like the one here. I have the basic code for the image template, but how do I go about designing the actual structure of the diagram?Richiar (talk) 07:11, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

The diagram on that page is actually an image. You can make your diagram using any image editor, and then upload your image to Wikipedia commons using the "upload file" link in the "toolbox" box in the lefthand column. (Make sure you fill in the appropriate copyright information: in your case, you will assert that you own the copyright and that you license it under the GFDL.) The specific example you show is a good one: it uses the SVG format. If you do not already have a preferred SVG editor, you can use Inkscape. You can downloca Inkscape for free in less than 5 minutes. You can learn to use Inkscape in less than 15 minutes. -Arch dude (talk) 01:33, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Just saw your message on my talk page. What do you mean by a summary, exactly? I could put a bit of text under it describing how the sun, the fire, and the screen ties in I guess, but I don't see how that would make it any more of a qualification. Also, I could simply add with the text something along the lines of "simplified representation of the allegory of the cave". I've edited the sub-text for the image in the article. I'm not quite sure if it warrants the name of "summary" because I myself have yet to read The Republic on my own time, I've only researched secondary papers and heard lectures. I'm 90% positive that it does cover the majority of the allegory, because it shows everything of importance towards that area of the description of the cave. --tj9991 (talk) 04:55, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

One way to begin improving the main article is to begin to use independent sources as the main direction for organizing the article. It is a good idea for the article to explain why the subject is notable, what the history of the subject is, what articles relate to the subject, and to use summary style to explain the main ideas without devolving into jargon, neologisms, or soapboxing. But I am into Science (Natural Philosophy) which is a study of real physical entities and has a fairly neat hierarchial set of entities to work on. But when it comes to Philosophy ans mankind I think in terms of a chronological spreadsheet that should start at the beginning with when the mankind individual became selfconscious. Then we can proceed to family consciousness and tribal consciousness et cetera et cetera to the current mess it finds itself in. That may be Metaphysics but I'm not really interested. But I would like to know if a dog is self consconcious or an ant and what would happen if our new creation (the genious computer) were given self consciousness and free will.WFPMWFPM (talk) 14:03, 26 May 2008 (UTC) Also I've got this idea about programming a computer to have a personality. Say I take a computer, (a big computer) and tell it that I liked to read scientific articles by Isaac Asimov (which I very much did) but he up and died on me. So I tell the computer that I want the computer to get all the personal information available (and there's plenty of it) plus audio tapes et cetera and I want it to develop the capabability to write and speak like Isaac Asimov, since it doesn't have a personality of it's own. Then it could continue to write articles that I would enjoy reading. Actually Isaac Isomov wrote stories about article writing computers who "wanted to be a writer", and he more or less admitted it to be an obsession.
