Robert Howell Price III (Bobby) was born on April 23, 1960 in Roanoke, Virginia. He is the oldest son of Robert H. Price, Jr. and Mary Louise Congdon Price.
Bobby grew up in Columbia, South Carolina and attended Columbia public schools. After graduating from Dreher High School in 1978, he enrolled at the University of South Carolina, where he majored geography. He was also a member of the soccer team and of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
Upon graduation from USC, Bobby enrolled in Clemson University’s College of Architecture as a candidate for a Master in City and Regional Planning. He earned his MCRP in 1987. His Graduate Thesis was A Site Analysis for a Dredge Spoil Site on the Savannah River in Jasper County, South Carolina: A Strategy Statement and Development Recommendations.
Upon graduation from Clemson, he went to work for Carter Goble Associates, Inc., in Columbia as a staff planner. At Carter-Goble he worked on hazardous waste, transportation, and corrections planning. In 1988, he went to work for the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce in Charlotte, North Carolina as their Public Affairs Coordinator. In that role, Bobby acted as the liaison to local, state, and federal government on behalf of the greater Charlotte business community.
In 1990, Bobby, along with Clemson classmate Larry Long, founded Planning Services Group, Inc. With offices in Charlotte and Columbia, this full service planning and development firm worked all over the southeastern United States assisting local governments and real estate developers with public relations, economic development planning and market analysis, land use planning, plan implementation and ordinance development, and impact analysis. It was at this time that Bobby began his successful work with the Catawba Indian Nation.
In 1995, Bobby married Pamela R. Eidson, who gave birth to a son on May 22, 1996, Robert Howell Price IV.
Bobby left Planning Services Group in 1997 and joined Terry Collier at SPM Columbia, an affiliate of SPM Resorts, Inc. of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. While at SPM, Bobby was instrumental in the development and successful operation of the Catawba’s gaming operations.
In, May of 2006, Bobby started Howell, Peter, & Congdon Advisors in Columbia, South Carolina, a firm that works in the real estate development and casino gaming industries.
