Rhondda Valley

The Rhondda Valley, in Welsh Cwm Rhondda, is a former coal-mining valley in south Wales. The valley is made up of two valleys, the larger Rhondda Fawr valley and the smaller Rhondda Fach valley and both the singular term 'Rhondda Valley' and the plural 'Rhondda Valleys' are commonly used.
The confluence of the two rivers is at Porth, which is known as the Gateway to the Rhondda Valleys.
Cwm Rhondda also lends its name to a famous hymn tune.
The Rhondda urban area had a population of 59,602 in 2001.[1]
