[edit] LactoseTI

While other editors have noticied similarities and patterns of behavior between LactoseTI and Komdori before [1], I choose to assume good-faith in these two editors dispite some problematic red-flags and the fact that several other editor's had expressed concerns until today when I noticed some changes made in the History of Korea article where LactoseTI incorrectly changed the "founding" date of Baekje from 18 BC/BCE to 18 AD/CE. LactoseTI's mistake was rather minor. The interesting thing was when Komdori later reverted [2] another user's edits, Komdori also reverted the incorrect dates LactoseTI had changed [3]. This is interesting because Komdori claims to be an ethnic Korean whose edits focus primarily on Korean history and so s/he should known the traditional date of Baekje's foundation and corrected it. I understand that Komdori's revert could have been simple oversight. However, the history of these two editors makes me doubt that assumption of good faith.

These similarities include the fact that both editors are very zealous in removing pictures with questionable licenses from Korean-related articles. I'm glad that both editors took it upon themselves to get rid of some questionable images. What leads me to believe that this is the work of only one editor is because both started tagging images during the same time period, particulary this summer (for those who live in the Northern Hemisphere), and mostly only Korea-related images. It was an interesting coincidence that both decided to target mostly only Korea-related articles at the same time espcially since there is no evidence (indicated by the user's respective talk pages) that it was coordinated between the two.

Additionally, both users exhibit remarkably similar opinions on pretty much anything where a consensus is needed. These include, the discussion on Talk:Japan where there is a debate on the use of weasel words, Hideyoshi's invasions of Korea, Dokdo, and most tellingly the obscure discussion to decide whether to move Port Hamilton to another name which was discussed by only Komdori, LactoseTI, and two other editors [4].

Finally, both users' accounts began at approximately the same time (May 8 for Komdori [5] and May 10 for LactoseTI [6]) and both editor's first couple of edits focused on the same article: Asashoryu Akinori and its talk page and than the Japanse Manutal of Style [7]. Additionally, gap periods of inactivity have a general correlation between the two such as the gap between May 15/30 and July 12 for Komdori [8] and May 15 (one edit on May 25) to July 15 for LactoseTI [9]. Similar shared gaps occur approximately from July 21 to July 26/27 for Komdori and July 20 to July 26/27 for LactoseTI and 9/14 to 9/18 for Komdori and again on 9/15 to 9/17 for LactoseTI.

The policy violations that may have occurred are sockpuppetry, the use of socks to appear to have more consensus than it seems, and possible vote stacking if the sockpuppetry is confirmed. Thanks for your time. Tortfeasor 20:40, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

Is this "Likely" closer to a "really sure" or "it's a possibility"? I'm not looking for any private details, just a sense of how likely you think it is. Thanks! ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 05:25, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Note: I've provisionally overturned the result in the sense that I believe we are actually dealing with distinct editors. We can revisit this if necessary. Mackensen (talk) 23:18, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
