René Elizondo, Jr. (born July 16, 1962 in Durango, Durango, Mexico) is a dancer, songwriter, and music video director. However, he is best known as the ex-husband of Janet Jackson. The two met in the mid-'80s, and seemingly dated until around 1999. In reality, the two of them had been married secretly in 1991. Due to Elizondo's heavy involvement in Jackson's business affairs, the two had grown as business partners, but fallen out as lovers. Following the divorce, Elizondo sued Jackson for spousal support. Although Jackson has heavily denied it, her 2001 song "Son of a Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You)" is supposedly about him. In terms of Jackson's catalogue, Elizondo is noted for directing her videos for "That's the Way Love Goes", "Again", and "Together Again" (Deeper Remix) and being a songwriter on The Velvet Rope.
