[edit] Welcome

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia!

Just a few quick tips:

  • Our Tutorial explains how to edit; you can experiment in the test area.
  • We have help pages, and if they don't help (can happen :-), post a question at the Help Desk.
  • Remember that we strive to have unbiased articles.
  • Eventually, you might want to read our Manual of Style and Policies and Guidelines.
  • Use the "Preview" button below the edit box! It helps you catch layout, format, and spelling errors before saving.
  • To sign your messages (to talk pages, for instance—like I do below), add four tildes (~~~~) to your posts. The software will replace them by your signature and a time stamp when you save the page.

Anyway, have fun improving this encyclopedia! Lupo 15:34, 19 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Eternal class support ship (gundam).jpg

Why did you tag this image as {{PD}}? The external site clearly states "Content ©2000-2004 by Mecha & Anime HQ"... Lupo 15:34, 19 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Because the owners of that website didn't create the image, nor do they own the copyrights to it.

Well then, who created it and owns the copyright? Lupo 15:37, 19 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Sunrise, the same company that owns everything Gundam-related.

And can you point me to a statement of that company where they say that they release their images into the public domain? Or can you provide proof that their copyright has expired? Lupo 15:55, 19 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] "trolling"

This sounds mean, but I think he's just upset with me because I challenged his move to combine the articles into one page. However, those pictures (and the UC ship ones as well) should qualify for fair use. Aqua008's user page contains a discussion over this topic. He and I had this discussion when the Alexandria class cruiser was placed on the cleanup page for various reasons, among them the lack of a picture.

[edit] Template

When you condensed the UC ships into a templete (thanks for doing that, I still don't know how :-)) you included a spot for Jupritis, but the page already exists as Jupitris class (Gundam). Thought you should know. TomStar81 05:57, 2 Feb 2005 (UTC)

  • Whoops. It wasn't linked from the other pages, so I assumed it wasn't there. Oh, and making the template was easy. All I did was copy the table from the UC ship pages, then start up an entry named "Template:Universal Century ship classes" and paste the table into it. Then I replaced the table in those pages with "{{Template:Universal Century ship classes}}". Redxiv 07:19, 3 Feb 2005 (UTC)
  • For the record, most of the UC era ships are already their- if you click on the bottom link that reads "Gundam Space Vessels" you can see all the ship classes (or specific ships, if the content permits) that have been created. At any rate, the problem be solved. Thanks TomStar81 05:14, 23 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Save our Ships!!!

I found some live amunition to use in defense of the alleged copyvio-ed CE era ships. It seems that the Anon (and me, and Aqua008) should have read a little further down MAHQ's FaQ page. About the faq's after the image one you find this:

Q: Would you send me files? A: Sorry, we don't have time to send anyone files. If you want images that are on the site, feel free to take them. If you're asking for reviews, don't even bother.

Note the part in bold- they are practically begging the public to make use of the images. That combined with an allready established fairuse use for the UC era ships- obtained from the same site as the CE ships- should cement our case for keeping them. TomStar81 05:14, 23 Feb 2005 (UTC)

  • Well, that should put it to rest. But if worst comes to worst, I can upload screenshots (like I've done for ships where I couldn't find lineart at the time, or in one case because the only one I could find was on Gundam Official, which specifically says not to re-use their images on other websites), which are specifically listed here on Wikipedia as an exampe of fair use images. Redxiv 07:08, 23 Feb 2005 (UTC)
    • I noticed one of the pictures you uploaded for the CE vessels was a screenshot. In cases where the picture is a screenshot, you can use the templete {screenshot} to produce a copyright tag for it. TomStar81 02:34, 24 Feb 2005 (UTC)
      • Thanks. I'll remember that if and when I get around to making entries for the smaller Earth Alliance naval ships. It'd probably be a combined entry, since there's so very little info on them that I've seen (basically just observations of them on-screen). Redxiv 00:16, 25 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Links between Iraq and Al-Qaeda

Could you please vote on the proposed move Links between Iraq and Al-Qaeda → Alleged links between pre-invasion Iraq and Al-Qaeda? The vote is here. I am opposed to the move since "alleged" is POV and prejudges the evidence. Thanks. ObsidianOrder 11:50, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Kim Possible

Nice work on the Kim Possible pages! Keep up the great work! =D Jumping cheese 04:49, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Gundam deletion debates

Hey -- BTW, although I disagree with you about the ideal result of all these, I think there's something seriously wrong with having many small-group deletion debates, like Brian Crawford has been doing. Basically, he's set it up so that we get to have 20 general debates instead of ONE general debate, on the premise that a general debate about only 5 articles is better than a general debate about 100. I totally disagree. I wish I could make this point well, but I really can't because I don't know the Gundam world that well. Surely some of these group nominations include more major robots with some minor ones? I just don't know which are which, but I wish someone would point that out. Mangojuice 19:24, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

  • I agree that splitting them apart for what's clearly a single debate is silly. I get the impression that Crawford thinks he's more likely to succeed that way. That he'll be able to get one of his clusters deleted, then use that as precedent for the rest. As for which are major and which are minor, the Windams and the ones with "Dagger" in their name tend to be "grunt" machines, while the ones with "Gundam" in their names are usually piloted by major heroes and villains of the series. Redxiv 19:33, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

Do you have something you need to say to me? If so, leave it on my talk page and quit cluttering AfD with questions about my contributions and motives. AfD isn't the place to air personal differences. Apparently, cartoon robots mean the world to you. To me, they mean nothing. I doubt we'll agree on how important they are. I'm going to keep nominating these articles as I see fit. You can choose to work with me, and discuss merging or transwiki, or you can choose to make snide comments that have nothing to do with the nominations. Either way, there's a time and place for both, and AfD isn't the place to discuss me personally. Brian G. Crawford 01:24, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

  • If they "mean nothing" to you, why is it so important to remove them? To stroke your ego by declaring things you personally find uninteresting to be irrelevant to everyone? Redxiv 01:29, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WP:CE

Dear Redxiv,

With all the deleteing going on, we would like your help in trying to preserve these MS articles. Would you mind joining WP:CE. - Plau 10:37, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

P.S. Reply on my talk anyway.

[edit] ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam

A tag has been placed on ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article is a repost of either already posted material, or of material that was previously deleted under Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion. If you can indicate how ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam is different from all other articles, or if you can indicate why this article should not be deleted, I advise you to place the template {{hangon}}, and also put a note on Talk:ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam saying why this article should stay. An admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 4 under General criteria. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. We welcome your help in trying to improve Wikipedia, and we ask you to follow these instructions.

PS. The page was originally deleted following discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/CAT1-X Hyperion Gundam series, which you may like to read. WJBscribe (WJB talk) 03:07, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes, I'm well aware of that highly improper AfD, where an admin arbitrarily (and, if I may say, randomly) created a consensus for deletion out of thin air that wasn't actually reached in the AfD. Oddly enough, he went on indefinite hiatus shortly afterward. I wonder why. Anyway, I think I already more than adequately explained why this particular article shouldn't have been deleted. As the title mecha of Gundam SEED Destiny, piloted by that series' main character, the Destiny Gundam is certainly more worthy of inclusion than several of the articles that survived that AfD. Redxiv 18:53, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
I see nothing "highly improper" in that AfD or in the decisions made by Doug Bell after a complex and protracted debate. I gather that the importance of the subject of the artice has not changed since that AfD. If you feel that there was something wrong with the decision, I suggest you start a deletion review (see WP:DRV). I think you may have some difficulty however given that over two weeks have elapsed without any challenge of the decision. I wish you luck in your arguments through the proper channels. However, until you are succesfull, WP:CSD G4 appears to require the article's deletion. I will therefore again be tagging it for deletion and I suspect an admin will delete it inspite of your eloquent argument on the Talk page.
PS. In reply to your question as to Doug Bell's break from Wikipedia, as I understand it he is unhappy with a decision of the Arbitration Committee in a matter unrelated to the AfD process. To my knowledge he is a highly respected admin and I hope that he will soon return to contributing fully. WJBscribe (WJB talk) 01:43, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ridiculous

Did you read my nominations? Are you aware of how many policies these articles comprehensively fail? Please. Less bad faith. If you want to be part of the solution and not part of the problem, join the dsicussion at WP:GUNDAM. Moreschi Deletion! 22:20, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Your assertion of policy violation doesn't make it so, and the biggest argument against these articles seems to be "in universe style", which relates to a non-binding guideline rather than to any policy. Redxiv 22:23, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
Um, no actually. WP:V and WP:OR are both policy and non-negotiable. These articles are completely unreferenced and contain large chunks of OR. Virtually none of these articles assert real-world notability, which is in fact a WP:SPEEDY deletion criterion. Moreschi Deletion! 22:30, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
Which doesn't mean an article violates policy because you say it does. BTW, WP:IAR is also policy. Redxiv 22:33, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
Uh-huh. And now we are supposed to let completely unreferenced articles that do not assert notability survive because of IAR. Somehow, I don't think so. Moreschi Deletion! 22:35, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hyuga clan/Uchiha clan merge

Sorry if you misinterpreted this, but nearly all of the information is still there. The introductory section to both articles is now under the appropriate clan's subheader in Land of Fire#Clans. All of their ranked ninja have been moved to List of Konoha ninja. Most of the unranked ninja have been moved to the Land of Fire#Villagers, and Snapper deleted a select few that were unimportant in the grand scheme of things (namely, the unranked Uchiha that Itachi kills in Sasuke's flashback). It's all still there. You Can't See Me! 20:15, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, didn't notice that, I was just looking at the talk pages for the Clans' articles. I only noticed because Obito Uchiha redirected to Land of Fire and (at the time) his name didn't even appear in that article. Which is something that needs to be addressed with this merge: fixing the character name redirects that used to go to Hyuga clan and Uchiha clan. Redxiv 05:56, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
Nevermind, I think I've handled all of them myself. Redxiv 06:18, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] consensus

Might want to review your definition of consensus. 14-5 is a clear sign that the community has decided what it wants. This is not in dispute, and has not been for some time. Bringing it up again will have no benefit. SWATJester Denny Crane. 07:04, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Consensus is not a vote, and I find your numbers suspect anyway. Redxiv 07:20, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Karen Stadtfeld

This in reference to your recent edits to List of Code Geass characters article. Please see the official character booklet supplied with Sunrise's Code Geass Mosaic Kakera CD; here is an image of the booklet, where it is clearly stated that her name is Karen Stadtfeld. ···巌流? · Talk to Ganryuu 13:19, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Good enough for me, then. Thanks. — Red XIV (talk) 02:38, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Requiem (Gundam).jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Requiem (Gundam).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:23, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Requiem (Gundam).jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Requiem (Gundam).jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 04:03, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
