[edit] Just Letting You Know

Red, I have created a template intended for notifing a user that a test has been reverted and references the article in question. It is tailored after test. I would appreciate your opinion and input. Thanks! Psy guy (talk) 03:14, 23 September 2005 (UTC)

looks fine. Redwolf24 (talk) 03:18, 23 September 2005 (UTC)

I think it looks good as well. In the future, you may want to consider proposing template creation on Wikipedia talk:Template messages first and create it as a user subpage, but for this specific one, it would probably have been better to propose it on one of the Test talk pages. They are watched by quite a few users and you would have fairly quick feedback. This way you avoid it being thrown up on WP:TFD and you can get immediate input before you create it in template space. I have created quite a few templates, some of which I should have proposed first :) Who?¿? 07:15, 23 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] I see the poll is not going well

Well its seems my friends are not going to let me retire after all. While the Assembly has been soundly defeated there is also great division among the other alternatives. I have drafted a compromise and I'd like to run it by you and Ambi before I post it the reform page. The Administrator General, Admin Gen, will be the only goverment functionary elected to a four month term. Redwolf is acknwoledged as the current Admin Gen and will set the date for an election to be held within the month. The Admin Gen's terms cannot be consecutive, and may not nominate themselves for the postion. Only Esperanzian members on the date before and election begins can vote. This allows a minimal amount of bureaurcracy The issue of government expanison will be taken up when/if Esperanza passes 150 members. If you and Ambi, can consolidate most of Esperanza it should break the current facitionalism and unite the organization behind you and its goals. -JCarriker 18:21, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

Sounds great actually. But I want to see the group's opinion on the advisory committee, just getting rid of them before the polls end would make me seem two faced :-/ Redwolf24 (talk) 01:32, 23 September 2005 (UTC)
 • Why not place it as one of the options on the table and let Esperanzians decide? I have been infomed by a post that Ambi is willing to support this, in other words you'll win over your greatest critics. Since you are conducting polls I see no reason not to propose this as an option, especially since the charter has now been, through your own precedent, to be seen as unpermanent, at least until passed by referendum. -JCarriker 03:22, 23 September 2005 (UTC)
K, then put it on the table. Redwolf24 (talk) 03:23, 23 September 2005 (UTC)

Or you can do it this way: Banes

Which becomes:

[edit] Wikipedia:Esperanza/Spamlist

Hey Redwolf24, I just saw Wikipedia:Esperanza/Spamlist, and didn't know if you were aware of NotificationBot, a great bot designed by AllyUnion. While it does have some glitches (it left triplicate copies last time), I've used it succesfully quite a few times for Wikipedia Mind Benders, which has a contact list of 50+ (I did notification once manually, took me forever...). Anyways, I just wanted to let you know about it, so you can consider using it for Esperanza. Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk | WS 20:16, 24 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Chair

I only got the position, because Mediation reforms were heavily discussed at the time. As long as you know what to do, I don't see a problem with you taking the chair position. (Perhaps it should be a shared thing, so the chair doesn't get overworked).

The chair position pretty much entails keeping RFM clean, assigning cases you can't handle yourself and making sure the committee is effective. If you think you can handle it, I'd be happy to appoint you as chair in my absence. If any of the other mediatiors oppose, I think you should try offering a shared position so one of them can have the position while the load gets lightened. - Mgm|(talk) 07:00, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use images

Please review the images you are using on your user page. It appears that many of these are on Wikipedia under the fair use clause of US copyright law. However, fair use will generally only apply in circumstances where the subject matter is being discussed and commented on. In most circumstances, it is unlikely that this applies to images on user pages. As such, most instances of fair use images on user pages should be removed. Dragons flight 09:49, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

I was kinda wondering about that awhile back. I read some of the terms of the fairuse tags and some of them are explicit in use. I didn't think of userpage use though, just usage on certain articles. Who?¿? 09:56, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Unacceptable deleting tactics

Just for your information. User:Ted Wilkes has repeatedly deleted paragraphs from talk and article pages. See [1], [2], [3], [4]. He even falsely claimed to have moved content from the Talk:Elvis Presley/Homosexuality page to the Talk:Elvis Presley/Sexuality page, but the content has been totally deleted. See [5].

There are similar deleting tactics by User:Wyss. See [6], [7], [8], [9], [10], [11], [12].

Those are from a while ago, please only bring current stuff to my attention. Redwolf24 (talk) 22:15, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

You deleted the Talk:Elvis Presley/Homosexuality page on 25 September. See [13]
Ah. I deleted it as it redirected to NOTHING. The /Sexuality page must have been deleted by another admin, find him instead. Redwolf24 (talk) 23:35, 25 September 2005 (UTC)
I don't think that an administrator deleted the /Sexuality page. As far as I can see, User:Ted Wilkes only claimed to have moved content from the Talk:Elvis Presley/Homosexuality page to a Talk:Elvis Presley/Sexuality page, but the latter page wasn't created at all. Thus the content has been totally deleted by Ted Wilkes. See [14]. Perhaps you are able to reinstate the original text. [edit] Rktect, and mediation

I have a request. From [15] it can be seen that your recommendation of staying away from Squaring the circle comment was left on Wikipedia's time 19:50, 24 September 2005 (your signature implies that your local time differs 5 hours from wiki time).

However, Rktect has already broken the mediation process by readding his content on Squaring the circle at 22:33, 24 September 2005 diff: [16].

Therefore, It is only fair that the entry be restored to the previous state so I can agree that we both stay away from such entry. -- (drini|) 02:00, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] A thought...

I have been, as you know, following the Wiki Brah "saga" with interest since I was the one that brought up the R.F.C. against him, which started the chain of events that led to him getting banned, then un-banned, then you got involved and re-banned him. I was just wondering why Lucky 6.9 said he couldn't unilaterally block someone, but you can? I thought that was an ArbCom decision. Please forgive me if I don't know what I'm talking about though -- I'm pretty new to most of this!TheDeletator 03:27, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

I can unilatterly block him as long as no other admin unblocks him. Thus, making it not entirely unilatteral. If someone unblocks him, he's unblocked. He'll be back, and if he continues being an idiot, I'll block him for two months, and if he keeps going then, then he can say goodbye. Redwolf24 (talk) 03:36, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

Ok understood. And what about that "RainBow" guy? Did you unilaterally block him? I thought you can't ban someone for anything but vandalism and 3 rr type stuff.TheDeletator 03:51, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

Nope, look at WP:BLOCK. Also we can use common sense. He was pretty much trolling, i.e. intentionally trying to annoy people etc. Redwolf24 (talk) 03:57, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Chart available

I've done the chart for you. You can view it at Image:Redwolf24-edits.png. I won't be placing it on my contributions subpage so please feel free to delete it whenever you're done with it or keep it if you want.

Some comments:

 • You use edit summaries just 39% of the time. Over the last 500 edits, just 30% of the time. Please use edit summaries, ok? :-)
 • I did a chart for User:Flcelloguy yesterday. He had an average of 32 edits per day. That was the highest I'd seen yet. I was floored when I saw yours...almost 52?? Wow!
 • Please have a look at User:Durin/Admin_nominee_charts#.22Will_you_do_a_chart_for_me.3F.22. This is the second time in the last few days that a non-admin nominee with less than 2,000 edits has requested a chart from me. I don't mind doing them for those admin nominees with less than 2,000 edits because I feel it helps focus the discussion on those nominees. Since you're just the second person not in that group of people to ask, I went ahead and did the chart. However, I really don't want to get in the habit of making a chart for anyone who requests one. It takes too much time; time I could be spending on other wiki stuff. I'm not upset at your asking! :-) I just don't want word to spread around such that I suddenly get hammered with a million requests for charts, ok? :-)

All the best, --Durin 13:44, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

 • The problem with not using edit summaries for user talk pages is that an RC patroller has to learn what your particular editing peculiarities are to know that the lack of an edit summary for a user talk page is normal behavior for you. This might be fine if it was only you that had this editing behavior. However, there are others that I have seen who do this as well. Thus, there's significant scaling issues with this behavior; how many editors will RC patrollers have to know the editing behaviors of? I used to not use edit summaries for my own user, talk, and subpages. I figured it should be obvious I'm not vandalizing my own page. Now, I use edit summaries 100% of the time (unless I just click "Save page" by accident before entering edit summary). Please consider doing the same? Thanks, --Durin 14:27, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] re your message

Your action leaves the page as reverted by drini with substantive content removed. As there is no good reason for the content to be removed I would prefer it that you leave the content, I will make no further changes till the matter is resolved. Rktect 14:48, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

I don't think that is a sign of uncooperation since he didn't readd his content, he's just stating his preference. My only point is that he modified the entry at (22:33, 24 September 2005) AFTER you requested us not to touch it at (19:50, 24 September 2005). I never touched the entry from that moment on so it was only fair to ask the same. However, if you feel you prefer to drop the mediation, that'd be fine with me. -- (drini|) 01:16, 27 September 2005 (UTC)
