[edit] History

2005 was the year that RQW opened up. The owners at the time were Phil Powers and Len Davies. RQWs first ever show was Clacton Carnage which took place in May, 2005. The show was to try and get an impression of RQW overall and saw some fine wrestling action for the wrestling fans that came along. It was in November, 2005 that really saw RQW re-invent themselves and show off there talent to London. The show known as A New Beginning took place at Waltham Abbey, London which saw a #1 contender Elimination Triple Threat Match for newly created Women's Championship, which involved Ashley Page, last minute addition Skye and Erin Angel (who won the match), who also had a film segment done on her by BBC. A Royal Rumble match took place on the night to see who would become #1 contender for the newly created RQW Heavyweight Championship, the winner was Eamon O'Neill. During Late - 2005 RQW were in the process of having there TWO new RQW Championship belts (RQW Heavyweight & RQW Women's Championships) made by Reggie Parks Championship Belts in the USA. They were to be finished by Early February in 2006. At roughly the same time a Brand New 20-foot (6.1 m) ring was built for the upcoming show No Pain - No Gain 2006.

The year 2006 was sure to be RQWs best year. Starting the year off with No Pain - No Gain 2006 which had implications on its future with the winner of its main event going on to meet Eamon O'Neill for the newly created RQW Heavyweight Championship. Domino defeated Phil Powers, UK Kid, Hade Vansen (who had defeated Spiro earlier in the night to get the chance to participate) in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match, however Domino received a severe head wound that needed dressing by the St. John Ambulance crew that were in attendance.

Just one month before A Night of Champions the final RQW title matches were announced; Erin Angel's opponent for the Women's title was confirmed as Sweet Saraya, but in an unexpected development the Heavyweight title match was to see former WWE superstar Billy Kidman face of against UK legend Robbie Brookside for the title instead of the originally scheduled matchup. 2006's A Night Of Champions would see the first ever RQW Heavyweight and RQW Women's Champion crowned. Brookside would defeat Kidman to win his title, while Erin Angel would pick up a win over Sweet Saraya to become RQW Women's Champion.

Also in the year 2006, RQW would completely redesign their promotion turning it into an inter-promotional showcase to display the best in British wrestling. RQW would also hold back on producing any show during the FIFA World Cup of that year but would return with a 5-day summer line up during August 2006. The first show of the 5-day summer line up would be named Summer Brawl 2006 as suggested by RQW Forum member Ian Dowland and would involve Pro Wrestling NOAH stars Go Shiozaki and SUWA. Summer Brawl 2006 would also see a match to determin crusierweight ranking within the promotion with the top 4 getting a future chance at becoming RQW's first Crusierweight Champion. Eden Black became New RQW Women's Champion and Ricky Knight became #1 contender for a future match with Robbie Brookside for the title.

Like all RQW events, Summer Brawl 2006 was taped for future DVD release. However, segments from the show will feature on RQW's first television production which is set to air in 2007 on TWC. On December 4, 2006, TWC (now known as TWC Fight) announced that it would be regularly showing RQW as part of it's lineup on Wednesdays at 23:00.

In Late - 2006, Real Quality Wrestling secured the prestigious York Hall, a premier Boxing venue in Bethnal Green, London for shows leading into 2007. RQW would also be given the permission to use the venue to host monthly shows which would be featured as TV Tapings for the promotion's TWC FIGHT show. This change of location gave new life to the promotion who began to change its image from a mere promotion to consider itself a concept in wrestling. At roughly the same time RQW featured themselves in the current edition of Fighting Spirit Magazine which included advertising for the York Hall shows, an interview to the current women's champion, Eden Black and an open letter from Len Davies to British Wrestling.

In Late - 2006 the RQW debut show in York Hall took place. The show name known as Rebirth was chosen for the show as it was the beginning of a new era for RQW. The show saw foreign diva wrestler, Portia Perez face Eden Black for the RQW Women's Championship with Eden Black retaining her belt, Red Vinny defeating Bubblegum, Marty Scurll and J. P. Monroe in an Elimination match, both Red Vinny and Bubblegum would then face off at No Pain - No Gain 2007 for the RQW Crusierweight Championship belt.

Around the Christmas period RQW held a Christmas event known as Not Just For Christmas 2006 where tickets were FREE. The event was to help charity - CRISIS. Fans who came were asked to bring a bar of chocalate or a can of tinned food to donate to the charity. The show overall was a tournament and would see wrestlers face off for a chance to be in the final and become RQW Heavyweight Champion. The final match saw Martin Stone face Pac with Stone becoming New RQW Heavyweight Champion.

2007's No Pain - No Gain was a historic night for RQW as Japanese legend The Great Muta debuted and fought Current RQW Heavyweight Champion Martin Stone in a Non - Title match. The Great Muta did successfully defeat Stone. At Rebirth Red Vinny won the Elimination Fatal 4 Way match and would now face Bubblegum for the Vacant RQW Crusierweight Championship. Bubblegum was victorious and became RQW Crusierweight Champion. The fans were in for a treat as Former WWE superstar Kid Kash took part in a Tag Team Match with partner Jonny Storm but unfortuneatly lost.

From January to June RQW held many shows at York Hall. Martin Stone would have to put his title on the line many times but would win and retain, Jon Ryan would defeat competitors who faced him in his £10,000 Submission Challenge, Bubblegum would vacate the RQW Crusierweight Title, Red Vinny would go on to win the Crusierweight Championship and Wesna would become New RQW Women's Champion.

It was announced on the website that RQW were moving from York Hall to The Mick Jagger Centre in Dartford, Kent where they would hold there Live TV Tapings. The first Live TV Taping was Summer Brawl 2007 which saw the First - Ever RQW Tag Team Champions crowned. Team Charming defeated The Hated Heroes (Andy Simmonz and LT Summers) after Don Charles called out 'The Hated Heroes' in the audience and distracted them. Martin Stone retained his title once again against 'Thee' Drew Galloway (now known as Drew McIntyre in WWE). Another Live TV Taping took place in Dartford on October 21st.

The last show of 2007 and it was Not Just For Christmas. The night saw Red Vinny, the current RQW Crusierweight Champion retain his title against Zak Zodiak and the main event saw Current RQW heavyweight Champion Martin Stone team up with Brett 'The Kraft' Meadows who fought The Knight Family (Ricky Knight And Zebra Kid). The match ended in a Double DQ but this feud was not over as they fought again in 2008 at No Pain - No Gain where it was not just a normal match, it was a No Rules - Streetfight. Stone and Meadows did come out, winners. No Pain - No Gain also saw Damned Nation defeat Team Charming to become New RQW Tag Team Champions.

Martin Stone and Ulf Herman fought each other in Weinheim, Germany in November, 2007 but Ulf Herman was not finished with Stone as he challenged him to a championship match for the February 9th ACW show. Stone accepted but wanted the match to be 'A Winner Takes All'. Herman accepted and on February 9th 2008 Ulf Herman retained his ACW Championship and Won the RQW Heavyweight title striping Stone of his 1 year reign as champion.

On February 16th RQW held another TV Taping. The show was set out differently, as it was set out into three episodes split by two intervals rather than having one show lasting a few hours. The night saw a Round Robin Tournament with the winner getting a chance to face newly crowned RQW Heavyweight Champion, Ulf Herman. The winner of the tournament was Johnny Moss (who made his debut on the night and would now face Ulf Herman at a future show) and Zak Zodiak defeated Ross Jordan and Mark Sloan on the night to get a chance to face Red Vinny for the Crusierweight Title in a future show.

On the March 9th show, Ulf Herman retained his championship against Johnny Moss defeating him with a single leg crab.

In April 2008, it was announced that World Association of Wrestling (WAW) and International Pro Wrestling: United Kingdom (IPW:UK) made a deal that sees them become the two benchmark promotions under the Real Quality Wrestling banner. With each promotion earning a European television deal with a leading German TV station and potential worldwide recognition through planned license deals.

During the end of April, RQW had trouble with there website due to there host server in America suffering major damage due to a natural disaster causing them to lose the RQW website. RQW would then purchase and make a new website on the 1st May, www.realqualitywrestling.tv, but would not be up fully due to them not being able to get onto the old server and redirecting the address. On 2nd May, RQW were able to get the website online.
