[edit] A disambig?

Just a quick glance at the What links here, of about 150 links to this page, none of them appear to be anything but Runs batted in. Does anyone think this should be a disambig or redirect right to the main article? Metros232 12:36, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

If one does a google search for RBI, the first link is to Reserve Bank of India. The Americans are taking over! --Grubb 06:34, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

I've reverted your cut and paste move. Please refer to Wikipedia:Requested moves for more information on how to proceed. Ewlyahoocom 08:17, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Alright. Thanks. --Grubb 18:03, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

RBI (disambiguation)RBI — RBI is an acronym for several popular terms like Reserve Bank of India and Run batted in. Therefore, RBI should be a disambig page and not a redirect. —Grubb 18:07, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's naming conventions.
  • Support - I agree with this one since there a so many potential meanings for "RBI" and I don't feel the baseball term is the principal one. --Tλε Rαnδom Eδιτor (tαlk) 20:14, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Oppose, just based on the shear number of links intending the baseball meaning. Ewlyahoocom 22:39, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Support RBI has a a variety of meanings even within the top ten hits on searches in various media. Find sources: RBInews, books, scholar The fact that some Wikipedians are too lazy to type [[run batted in|RBI]] instead of [[RBI]] shouldn't have any bearing; there's a WikiProject devoted to cleaning up that sort of thing. cab 05:38, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Oppose — per M-W and AHD dictionaries. Other usages of "RBI" are?... not expected by primary speakers of English. (English is not the primary language in India.) However, if somebody can show me that the Indian usage of RBI is more common in the UK, I will change my opinion.--Endroit 17:09, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Oppose: RBI happens to be an acronym for a few things but no one has shown whether that acronym is commonly used. It would be quite easy for me to show how often RBI is used to denote run batted in. As mentioned by Ewlyahoocom, the number of baseball-related links is a good start to show how often RBI means run batted in. —Wknight94 (talk) 01:09, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Discussion

Any additional comments:

Though RBI has many potential meanings, WP:DAB instructs "When a reader enters a given term in the Wikipedia search box and pushes "Go", what article would they most likely be expecting to view as a result?" This would seem to favor run batted in. — AjaxSmack 04:40, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

A quick note for the record: the only reason baseball editors have not flooded this with opposes is because this talk page is not on anyone's watchlist. If it is moved, a return move would probably be filed within hours and would be passed overwhelmingly. —Wknight94 (talk) 01:14, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
