Rashidi Yekini born October 23,1964 in Kaduna,Nigeria is a former football striker from Nigeria.Scoring 37 goals for Nigeria, he is the national record top goalscorer. Yekini was part of the team that participated in the 1994 FIFA World Cup (where he scored Nigeria's first ever goal in a World Cup) and 1998 FIFA World Cup and won the 1994 African Nations Cup, a tournament in which he became top goalscorer. Yekini also played Olympic football, in Seoul 1988.
After playing well in the Nigerian league, he went to Côte d'Ivoire to play for Africa Sports. From there he went on to Portugal and Vitoria Setubal, where he eventually became top scorer in the Portuguese Liga. His performances earned him the title African Footballer of the Year in 1993. After the1994 World Cup Height 6ft 1inch Yekini was bought by Olympiacos, but didn't get along with the players and left. His club career never really got back on track, even not upon a return to Setúbal. He did have one quite successful season with FC Zürich, and played in Tunisia and Saudi Arabia before rejoining Africa Sports. In 2003, Yekini, 39 years old, was back in the Nigerian Premier League with Julius Berger.
