Raphael John Musto, usually known as Ray Musto (Born March 30, 1929) was a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania.
Raphael Musto was born in Pittston Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. He graduated from Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania in 1971. He was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1971 to 1980.
He was elected as a Democrat to the 96th United States Congress, by special election, to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of United States Representative Daniel J. Flood. He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1980. He was elected to the Pennsylvania State Senate in 1982 and has been reelected six times. He represents a district based in Wilkes-Barre and including portions of the Poconos.
He is the oldest active State Senator in Pennsylvania. He is the Democratic chairman of two committees, the Senate Environmental & Energy Resources Committee and the Senate Education Committee, assigned to him in 2004.
