Ramon Te Wake is a transgender New Zealand television presenter and singer-songwriter. She grew up in Ascot Park, a suburb in Porirua. She moved to Wellington in the early 1990s, and then to Auckland shortly after.
"I am working on the follow up album to my successful debut EP, released in 2002 called 'The Arrival', which is really exciting!" says Ramon, "I was aiming for a country, hip-hop/soul, electronica, rock feel and I cant wait for its impending release for summer 2006". Ramon has also just finished her first screenplay for film and has been writing it since last summer. It is currently being shown to different respected screen-writers to help smooth out the script and give it the shape that it deserves. Hopefully the silver screen will be its home in a couple of years.
Her first presenting job was for Māori Television, where she was one of three people fronting Takataapui, which is Maori Television's first ever gay and lesbian show.[1] The show began in 2004 and still continues today. Wake also joined King Kapisi in presenting the Pasifika 2005 festival, televised on TV2.
