[edit] Sources

The sources in this article are virtually all from http://www.askdrshah.com this is not an independant third-party source. MidgleyDJ 20:21, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

  • Comment: I would not agree with above statement, as some of the sources are third party sources.
  • Comment: I believe that the references such as Sify, Rediff, Khaleej times, Simillimum journal (USA), etc. are definitely third party sources hence the question of neutrality should not arise. Sunildp 10:27, 10 November 2006 (UTC) Dr. Sunil
I must respectfully disagree. References such as Sify & Limca may (see my last comments on the deletion discussion) indicate notabilty, I'm not in a position to say. They do not indicate neutrality in the article (see WP:NPOV). MidgleyDJ 10:35, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] World Record

Hi - The world record claim in the article says 122 countries. The subjects website (http://www.askdrshah.com/) suggests the number is 118. What is the correct number? MidgleyDJ 10:24, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

the whole mention of patients in number of countries seems really kind of hokey to me. I wish there were something with more substance we could say in the article about his notability Abridged talk 18:38, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Qualifications?

I'm assuming Dr. Shah has two degrees (a bachelor of medical science or equivalent) and some kind of homeopathy degree. If so, these should both be included in the article. The term "MD" is also confusing. Some people assume it's a medical degree ie: (a bachelor of medical science or equivalent) while others interpret it as a Ph.D. in medical research - Can one of the other editors elaborate on this? Thanks MidgleyDJ 10:28, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

I'm not really familiar with him, but will look into this. Abridged talk 13:30, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

For your information, there is an M.D. degree (Doctor of Medicine) in homoeopathy, in India; unlike most other countries in the world, offered by renowned Mumbai University. It is a medical degree in homoeopathy.

[edit] References

Hi again, I was wondering if we should implement the referencing system using Footnotes. Currently the article has a list of references that arent listed in the article proper. These should probably be removed unless they are cited in the text. Thoughts? MidgleyDJ 10:32, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

I agree. Abridged talk 18:37, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] notability

I think the lead sentence in the article where we establish notability by saying the subject has patients in the most countries of any doctor (although ok by WP:ATT) is hokey. Can we do better? This homeopath has published books and articles on homeopathy and his articles are published in major homeopathic journals. He seems to be known in the homeopathic community, I can't describe a salient contribution. Could we describe his contribution according to Wikipedia guidelines below?

Criteria for notability described in Wikipedia:Notability (people)#special cases under "creative professionals: scientists, academics, professors, authors, editors, journalists, filmmakers, photographers, artists, architects, engineers, and other creative professionals":

  • The person has received notable awards or honors
  • The person is regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by their peers or successors
  • The person is known for originating a significant new concept, theory or technique
  • The person has created a significant or well-known work, or collective body of work which has been the subject of an independent book or feature-length film, or multiple independent periodical articles or reviews?

I'm not saying we should AFD the article--it has survived one AFD (see link in banner at top of article), but think we need to improve it. Could anyone help? Abridged talk 14:21, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, I don't find it a bad lead at all. If someone were to write an article on a person and started it off with "XYZ is listed in the Limca Book of Records for having slept with 1,000 snakes" or similar it would definitely be a credible assertion of notability and an interesting one at that. Being listed in a national book of records is no small feat IMO. Resurgent insurgent 2007-04-17 13:38Z
I'm not saying it is a small feat. I'm just saying it would be better if we phrased according to the above criteria. Abridged talk 14:19, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
It should be noted about Rajesh Shah that he has contributed immensely by launching many web sites talking about the role of homeopathy for various diseases. This is incredible, as such a job is hardly done by any institute that I know of. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sanjiva A.K. (talkcontribs) 08:08, 21 April 2007 (UTC).
Website launches are not, to my understanding, counted towards notability @ WP. MidgleyDJ 12:57, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] External links

According to WP:EL external links need to add something to the article that's unique beyond what would be included in the WP:FA version of the article. I've removed the other links - they dont meet the requirements of WP:EL. MidgleyDJ 04:19, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

I agree. I have concerns that this article verges on being an advertisement for Shah. Let's not make it worse with linkspam. Abridged talk 17:47, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
It appears very much like an advertisement to me also Abridged. Cheers, David. MidgleyDJ 19:30, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
Well, I've posted a request for people to help improve the article above. Hopefully the anons who keep inserting these links will improve the lead and give some evidence of notability. Otherwise, I think this would be fair game for AFD. Abridged talk 21:23, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
