Rüdesheim is a municipality in the district of Bad Kreuznach, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is situated near the river Nahe, approx. 3 km west of Bad Kreuznach. The town has about 2,400 inhabitants and is spread over 2,47 square kilometres.
During the 1960s, the town was amalgamated into the city of Bad Kreuznach, but the inhabitants of Rüdesheim successfully resisted the amalgamation by winning a court rule on the case.
At the moment, the town council consists of 4 parties (CDU, SPD, FBL, FWG), in which CDU, FBL, and FWG form a majority coalition. Jürgen Poppitz of the FBL (Freie Bürgerliste (Free Citizens List)) is the current mayor, after a long period of SPD-mayors.
Rüdesheim is the seat of the Verbandsgemeinde (collective municipality) Rüdesheim, which was organized in 1970.
