PurpleDog I am and I know that some things are certain. I am certain that Jesus is risen and He is the Lord of Life.

Preferring not think of it, but I am certain someday I am going to die. I do not know when...it could be soon or many years down the road. As far as my dying, I do not know how...it could be by accident or after a long illness or quietly in my sleep.

You and I - we are certain to die. We are moving toward the grave - our own! From the moment we were conceived in the darkness of the womb, we have been on the way to the darkness of the tomb.

Death is inevitable. When someone dies we try to cover it up, sanitizing it by saying things like: "She passed away." We make a corpse appear not to be dead, but simply asleep.

Face death we must, but thanks be to God we face it in the light of the Risen Christ. What happened that first Easter morning has great and eternal implications for us because, by dying, Jesus Christ destroyed our death and by rising He has restored our life.

To undergo the corruption of death is part of the human package, if you will. But when Christ comes again in glory our graves will be emptied. We look for the resurrection of the dead and life everlasting!

Not only has God come to live among as a person like us...but he has taken away that thing which most disturbs, preoccupies and frightens us: DEATH.

And He has destroyed death forever…this is certain!
