"Thus, gangs are often more-or-less tolerated by prison administrators due to the side-benefits they create" Really, I work for a correctional facility and I have never tolerated such benefits. Perhaps the author of this statement could provide some examples.

"Prison rape is also consciously ignored by guards and authorities for this same functionality." Deleted because that is opinion with no factual basis cited and appears to address an agenda rather than an informational function.

Deleted statement that AB is somehow aligned with the "Aryan Nations" group. Other than the use of the term "Aryan" in the names of the two groups, they share little in common. AB is a prison gang that is dedicated to running rackets behind bars and has little or no ideological agenda.

The information regarding black Eme members is questionable. Any sources? There used to be some blacks associated with sureno gangs in SoCal, but given the current climate on the streets and in the "correctional system", that is long a thing of the past.

[edit] Sources

This is a very interesting article but it is wholly lacking sources. I'd be interested to dig into some sources (I have to imagine that they exist in the form of reports by law enforcement and other groups) and would be grateful to any other editors who can help add sources to the article.Cuffeparade 17:20, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
