[edit] Education and Youth

Prince Jean was educated in Luxembourg, Switzerland and France, where he obtained his baccalaureate. He then undertook a language course in England.

In 1977, Prince Jean began his military officer training at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, England. He was made a captain of the Luxembourg Army in 1979. In 1986 he obtained an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.

[edit] Marriage and Family

On May 27, 1987, Prince Jean married Hélène Vestur (born 31 May 1958), now a judge, in Paris. His wife and children bore the title "Count(ess) of Nassau", until raised to the style and title of "HRH Prince(ss) of Nassau", on 24 November 2004. The prince and princess are now divorced, after having had four children together:

  • Countess, now HRH Princess Marie-Gabrielle of Nassau (born on 8 September 1986)
  • Count, now HRH Prince Constantin of Nassau (born on 22 July 1988)
  • Count, now HRH Prince Wenceslas of Nassau (born on 17 November 1990)
  • Count, now HRH Prince Carl-Johan of Nassau (born on 15 August 1992).

Prince Jean works in the water industry for Degrémont-Suez, a subsidiary of Suez, where he is currently the Vice-President. It is unclear what his exact function is. His former wife and children presumably still live in Paris.
