Talk:Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The article seems to be making a big deal of the supposed rivalry between Sauk and Prairie. I don't get it? I think that when they merged the schools systems many years ago that the rivalry has pretty much died. I was born there in 1961 and lived there until about 1980 and I never really felt any rivalry.
Anyone know about the fire depts? I was under the impression that Prairie was pretty much in town and Sauk handled the 'out of town' events? Any one know more about this?
Also, wouldn't one of the towns loose their "third oldest village in WI" status if the towns were merged together?
[edit] Various things
I removed this paragragh: "One expression of this rivalry is seen in that when Sauk City built a bridge over the Wisconsin River, Prairie du Sac built it's own bridge, less than two miles up-river."
This is not totally true. One of the main reseaons they built two bridges is convenience.
For the fire department question: Prairie du Sac FD does just PDS. Sauk City FD does SC and the rural area around Sauk Prairie.
