Prairie Fire (mixed drink) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Prairie Fire (mixed drink)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Prairie Fire is a mixed drink consisting of strong liquor and hot sauce. Between the burning sensation from the distilled spirits combined with the hot, possibly very hot, sauce, one's mouth will feel on fire. For this reason, inducing someone to drink a Prairie Fire, especially in one gulp, is considered by some to be a drinking game. One of the first uses was invented by Michael Simonetti, while running Joy Fridays at the Metro in Melbourne Australia. He would use the Original (Joy Metro) Prairie Fire to purchase drinks for annoying patrons always requesting free drinkcards.

[edit] Variations

Lighter versions may contain much less hot sauce, down to as little as a dash. Some recommend 1:1 mixture, some recommend 1:2 and even less. For the less brave (or the more intelligent) a hearty dash of whatever hot sauce is chosen is all that is required. If monetary bets are involved, the mixture will usually run hotter.
