How do I put the 'complete rewrite' tag on an article?

Hi Porterjoh! You can take a look through this table to find the template that best fits the article in question and then add its tag to the beginning of an article. I've added your talk page to my watchlist, so if you have any more questions, feel free to ask them. —bbatsell ¿? 19:40, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
You can also use the {{Cleanup-rewrite}} template, which I couldn't find in that list. —bbatsell ¿? 19:42, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for your help :) Porterjoh 19:43, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

I gather you'd like the events of the last few days to disapear, and I have now blanked part of this page for you, as most people will would revert you when blanking. I am sure you learned from the experience and will be a valued contributor from now on. Any questions - don't hesitate to ask. I will continue to have your page watchlisted so I should notice when even when you write here. Agathoclea 00:28, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

I'm confused by your contribution here. Your explanation for "merge" reads like an explanation for "keep". --Dweller 17:19, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. People rarely change their minds at AfD (in my experience) so thanks for bucking the trend. Appreciated. I took the liberty of "striking" your first contribution. --Dweller 17:40, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Done. When you want to "go live" with the nomination you need to go to today's afd page and type {{subst:afd3|pg=James Light}}.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 00:01, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: James Light

It looks like this was done by a single-purpose account. Warn politely and return it to a redirect. If there are ongoing issues past that, we can look at the article history and have the editor in question checkusered and likely blocked. --Auto (talk / contribs) 15:03, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] What wikipedia is about

I find it incredibly amusing that an editor whose edits in a whole year can be counted on one page has an urge to turn up and start deleting things and telling other editors how to go about things. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 12:17, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Building lists is the best way to generate new content on wikipedia and identify what is missing and how to build a better encyclopedia for everybody. Work on what is missing and to create new articles from it which will greatly improve wikipedia in all fields in the long term. Once the articles have been started then there will be no need to have lists as they will be housed in categories ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 12:21, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Basically I see lists as a construction tool. Some lists can be useful if they indeed provide meaningful encyclopedic content e.g with tables that provide info but most I agree are better done in categories. However given the sheer amount missing, building lists to build encyclopedic content on is the best thing we can do and provide a framework to enchance coverage on. There was some discussion before about creating the lists in the project space, but I and several other editors find it easier to work off straight lists. No disrespect to you as an editor, but there are a lot of editors here who do a great deal to improve this site and know exactly how to build this, evne if it doesn't always seem like it is initially that beneficial. Regards ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 12:32, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

  • Hi, Porterjoh. I'm afraid I agree with Blofeld of SPECTRE. Lists such as this are commonly accepted and encouraged on Wikipedia. Speedy deletion should only be for articles that clearly don't belong here; as at least two experienced users believe the article should be kept, an AfD would be more appropriate if you have strong views on this. Epbr123 (talk) 12:33, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

The reason I declined the speedy was because it wasn't a candidate for speedy deletion -particularly when there was also a Slovene wikipedia link to the equivalent. Whenever I see somebody continously reverting it and adding a speedy delete tag, it appears to be there isn't good faith involved; it can get particularly frustrating to me that my course of editing, which ALWAYS is intended to serve some purpose to improve wikipedia in the long term is being halted. No hard feelings, but in future perhaps you could ask the editor of the article you place a speedy tag on it why they think it constitutes an encyclopedia article. Thankyou ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 12:41, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

If you have any doubts it is precisely such lists that have allowed articles like Jože Javoršek to be created. I have been working together with some of the SLovenes on here to try to build content in missing areas and get them to translate stuff. Now if we can get several hundred evne thousand articles like this up and running, then I'm sure you;kll agree that wikipedia will become a much greater and resourceful site. Saludos ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 12:54, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the cookies, LOL no worries I can see you are a decent person after all. Apologies if I misjudged you initially just really don't like being disrupted. No let me get on with it!! , just kidding. Adios ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 13:02, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know -today seems to be bringing on a lot of distractions and potential deletions which I very rarely encounter-I still think the best thing is to move the pages to e.g Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/Slovenia/Missing articles/Musicians etc as project work lists but there we go ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 16:53, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

The problem is if I aim to add most of the ones on Slovene wiki and largely due to my lack of understanding of the SLovene language any new stubs are likely to cause equal concerns that they are non notable because they are stubs. They are likely to initially be one liners, and would likely be to generate similar unwanted attention to them as inadequate ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 17:01, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Request for Rollback

Hi. I've gone ahead and granted you rollback. Please remember to only use it for clear cut vandalism or unconstructive edits. You can find more information at WP:RBK or feel free to ask me. Pedro :  Chat  10:40, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

this use of rollback is clearly not vandalism. You've "rolled back" to a version of the article that contained numerous spelling and grammatical errors. Do not use rollback to remove good faith edits. Use talk pages to discuss changes to articles, but do not use rollback that way. I strongly recommend you using your rollback feature properly, or not at all, until you are more familiar with WP:ROLLBACK and since this is your first day with it, I won't be removing it for one mistake. Please ask questions if you have them, thanks. Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 18:26, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
And now that I've seen that you've blanked the complaint from the other editor, as well as Pedro's message, and now that I've found several other mistakes and misuses with rollback, it is removed from your user rights. Easy come, easy go. Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 18:36, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
The following diffs, plus the Jackie Collins diff above, are not explicit vandalism, therefore rollback should not have been used:

[1], [2] , [3] (#3 was okay, but left some vandalism there that I had to remove), [4] , [5] ,[6] , [7]. That's just in the last few hours. Need I go on? Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 18:45, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

I saw your apology to the other editor at Jackie Collins. Very nice indeed. Please see my talkpage and make a case for having rollback returned to your user rights if you wish. I'm very convincible. Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 18:48, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Editing my own talk page

Hi, I'm not sure on Wikipedia policy on this, but I thought I could edit my own talkpage? If not I'm sorry, I wasn't aware of that. I think your warning is a bit harsh.. The placement of that notice by an anonymous user is completely inapropriate so I deleted it. Please leave a message on my talk page :-) Cocytus Antenora (talk) 14:39, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply. It does makes sense if it regards a warning, makes it much more easy to spot repeatedly warned vandalists. If you want to know why I felt the notice was inappropriate, see the editing history on Twilight Princess - that anonymous IP has been making numerous edits which have all been reverted / undone by users other than me as well. In response to my reversions he posted that warning message. Meh. I guess I'll just leave it there, can't be bothered really. I'd appreciate it if you withdrew your warning though, it makes me look like a vandal myself ;) Thanks. Cocytus Antenora (talk) 14:53, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
