Plymouth South High School, known informally as Plymouth South, is a public high school located in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Its students are residents of the town of Plymouth. The school is one of two high schools in Plymouth, the other being Plymouth North High School. Plymouth South is located near the Long Pond neighborhood of Plymouth, west of Route 3 and The Pinehills development. The school has an enrollment of approximately 837 students[1] in grades 9-12. The mascot is a panther.

Plymouth South High School was opened in 1988, the same year the Plymouth-Carver School District was dissolved into the separate Carver and Plymouth school districts. Prior to its opening, Plymouth North High School (then known as Plymouth-Carver High School) had served as the sole high school for the towns of Plymouth and Carver. The school has been in continuous operation since its opening, and has held a slightly smaller number of students than Plymouth North.

In order to deal with overcrowding and an ageing infrastructure, the school will share in a $199 million debt exclusion that voters approved in September 2006. The money will go toward a renovation scheme and the construction of an additional 1,000 student building.[2]

Plymouth South Technical School offers a technical education branch that serves an additional 747 students,[3] bringing the total number of students at Plymouth South to 1,584. The school is located on the same property as Plymouth South, and the two schools are often considered one and the same. The school offers several courses, including Computer-aided Design, Automotive, Cosmetology, Electronics, Marine Tech, Metal Fabrication, and Graphic Arts studies.[4]
