Grammy Award winning producers and rap duo Play N Skillz consist of brothers, Juan "Play" and Oscar "Skillz" Salinas who hail from Irving, Texas. Play N Skillz grew up in a Venezuelan family with two brothers, Erika and Jheison, living in a hispanic neighborhood in Irving, Texas. They began their career in music as DJ's and quickly discovered their talent for making beats.
They started DJing and gaining a name at Dallas clubs. After creating a makeshift recording studio in their mother's cramped two-bedroom apartment, Play ditched his college plans and rented out a space with his brother with plans to build a professional studio and soon, their company, Prime Time Productions was born. PTP was originated during their highschool years; this was a failed attempt at creating a rap group.
They released 3 albums before getting their major deal with Universal Records. From Texas to Da World Vol. I, The Best of Lil Flip and Play n Skillz, and The Album Before the Album After a chance meeting with Texas based rapper Lil' Flip – Play N Skillz produced 12 tracks on his Multi-Platinum album U Gotta Feel Me and scored a publishing deal with EMI Publishing. Soon after they produced and co-wrote "Ridin" for Chamillionaire, which earned them a GRAMMY Award and helped launch them as one of the hottest and most sought after producers in the music industry.
In summer of 2007 they produced two hit singles "So Krispy" for Kia Shine and "Secret Admirer" for Pitbull. Play N Skillz have recently launched their own record label, G4 Recordz. G4 is primed to become the next big label to take over the music industry having signed R&B crooner Reyez, rapper Tum Tum, Hip Hop's favorite rock band Big Red Rooster, and up and coming rapper Lumba.
They are known best for working with Swishahouse artists, as well as Reggaeton artist Don Omar, Pitbull, and Hip Hop artists Lil' Flip, 50 Cent, Three Six Mafia, Blast, Chamillionaire, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Adina Howard, Phar East, Bun B of UGK, Young Noble, Petey Pablo, Lil Jon, Mannie Fresh, Young Chris, Paul Wall, Big Tuck, Frankie J, Akon, Gemini, and others.

They produced a remix of Hilary Duff's 2007 single "With Love" that also features a guest appearance by Slim Thug. Currently they have been working with fellow Dallas artists Big Tuck and Tum Tum from DSR based in Dallas. They have also stated that they are working with Slim Thug on his next Album.
A song leaked to the internet titled "Get Freaky" featuring Pitbull gained momentum, but it is unknown if this is also going to be on the next album or if it is merely from a future mixtape. The song uses the famed synthesizer part from Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams" Pitbull's verse is taken from his verse in "Freaks Part 2."
Recently they have worked with Mr. Cash Money himself Lil' Wayne on Tha Carter III on the song called "Got Money". This song is to be featured on The Carter III Album and features T-Pain.
Right now in progress, they are working with T-Pain on his new single off his new album coming in September 30, 2008, Snap Yo Fingers. The song is featuring Lil Wayne. This song is going to be released in June 2008 and is going to be played in the radio also once its released. This song is to be featured on the Thr33 Ringz album.
It has been confirmed recently that the group produced the song "Got Money" off the Lil Wayne highly anticipated album Tha Carter III. The song features T-Pain and was leaked on to the internet prior to release of the album.

Their New Album Out Tha Box is set to be in stores August 19th Recently Play N Skillz released their highly anticipated new single from the new album titled "ONE MO' GIN" Featuring Krayzie bone, Bun B & Lil' Jon. The track is a cut from their album "Out Tha Box" which will be released through G4 Recordz this summer. "One Mo' Gin" was produced by Play N Skillz and showcases their trademark ability to combine smooth melodies with soulful Hip-hop beats. The song samples famed synth's from famous dance duo Daft Punk's 'One More Time'
Play N Skillz have enlisted a group of heavyweight producers and artists for Out Tha Box including Talib Kweli, Lil Jon, Slim Thug, Slim from 112, Bun B, Krayzie Bone, Sean Kingston, Tego Calderon and Nina Sky. Play N Skillz are currently in the studio putting the final touches on "Out Tha Box," which will make its worldwide debut on August 19th. They have also been working heavily in the studio with artists Lil Wayne, NORE, Pitbull, Slim Thug, Tum Tum, Lil' Easy E and Bun B to name a few.

As talked about on the CD, The Process, Play has one child, Jose Jr., a boy, he was on the Latinos stand up video in the end shot.
