Pioneer Trail Junior High School is one of the eight junior high schools in Olathe, Kansas. The school opened in the August of 1986 and serves a diverse population. Their graduates go to Olathe East High School along with California Trail Junior High and Frontier Trail Junior High graduates. Pioneer Trail has its seventh grade students divided into three teams: The Voyagers, Challengers, and Globetrotters.
Their mascot is the panther, going nicely with the schools colors: black and red. Their school principal is Kim Gillespie, and has approximately 700 students. The school carries grades 7-9. The 8th grade is divided into three teams: Pathfinders, Trailblazers, and Explorers. The ninth grade lacks teams.
Combined 2006 and 2007 football seasons made 16-0 for the 2007 Freshman Football team, including two Olathe City Championships. The eighth grade football team went 4-4 in the 2007 season, indicating that there is a slim chance of a third consecutive championship.
