[edit] Biography
Peter Klashorst was born on February 11, 1957 in Santpoort, Netherlands.
Klashorst specializes in painting and photographing young women, particularly from the Netherlands and several African countries. He also has a wife and children in Africa.[1][2] In 2000, in primarily Muslim Senegal, his art caused him to end up in custody of the police for some weeks.[3][4][5][6] He was suspected of taking advantage of prostitution, inciting debauchery, and the production of obscene pictures, because he had painted local women in the nude. By bribing officials, he managed to buy his freedom,[7] and he sneaked into Gambia to flee the country.[8] On another visit in 2003 he was also deported from Gambia for pornographic paintings.[2]
In 2003 Klashorst did a brief entry into politics with his party "O O Den Haag",[2] but later withdrew from the elections. He tried again in the Amsterdam municipal elections in 2006 with another new party "Huisje Boompje Beestje",[9][10] but didn't succeed in getting enough votes.[11]
In 2005, King Klashorst, an authorized biography, written by Robert Vuijsje, was published. An extensive biography will also be published about his art, ideas, and life on the 25th anniversary of Peter Klashorst as a painter in 2007. An exhibition will also be set up, concerning his paintings, drawings, photographs and objects.
