Peter Cortlandt (full name Peter William Cortlandt II, born 12-25-1992) is a character on the soap opera All My Children. He was last played by Mitchel Federan in 2002. He was original played by Jack McKillop (1997-1999) and then Casey Gunther (1999-2002). The character has been commonly known by the nickname "Petey". Peter will return on July 11, 2008 and will be portrayed by Daniel Kennedy.
Peter's mother, Opal, got pregnant with him late in life and received the blessed news after she had begun menopause. Palmer Cortlandt, Peter's father, accused Opal of infidelity, since he had been previously left sterile decades earlier after a horseback riding accident. After Joe Martin ran a few tests, it was determined that Palmer was not sterile after all and he was indeed the father of Peter. As a gift to her husband she gave the child a variation of Palmer's original name, Pete.
After Opal's and Palmer's divorce, Opal got custody of Petey.
