[edit] Criticism

Mr. Harvey has also been criticized for his "rest of the story" segment using urban legends as facts, including, most notably, his rest of the story on Mel Gibson. 68.12.224.100 18:41, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

ThinkProgress.org does not cite any other source for the claim about what Paul Harvey said about the weapons "in their silos." I spent quite some time looking for a source on this, and could find no reliable sources. Most cite each other. There is not a single reference to it in any academic site or mainstream news site. The lack of reliable sources, coupled with the fact that things like this are falsely attributed to people like Paul Harvey and Andy Rooney all the time (see snopes.com for myriad examples), mean that the the passage is certainly false. Penitent 01:29, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

The simple fact that Harvey made Olberman's list does not qualify as criticism, especially since the Olberman link doesn't refer to any specific mention of Harvey. With better sourcing, the items above may be suitable for that section. But for now, no criticism sourcing =- no criticism section.
Depression? I heard that Paul Harvey suffers from severe depression and has had ECT performed on several occasions. any sources?

[edit] What happened to the "sugar candy" monologue?

Why is the "sugar candy" monologue no longer here? I see someone removed it here without comment; was not restoring it just an oversight? I'd expect to see some discussion here if that were not the case. superlusertc 2007 August 03, 05:34 (UTC)

[edit] Seventh Day Adventist?

At 22:09 on 9 June 2007, someone from 71.32.57.221 added a note to the Family section identifying the religion of some of Paul Harvey's relatives. How is this relevant? And why is this article part of the Seventh Day Adventist church project? A person's religion might be slightly relevant if it played a role in their notable lifetime achievements, and if the claim had a source to cite, but as it currently stands I think the sentence should be removed. Otherwise are we going to go through all of Wikipedia and identify the religion of everyone mentioned? No -- not just their religion, but their relatives religion? What's the point? 72.208.56.148 02:12, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

I found a mention of Harvey as a Seventh Day Adventist here but note that his wife, according to all her obits in May 2008, was buried from a Presbyterian church. Maybe they had two different faiths. Since Harvey's not primarily known as a religious figure, I don't think it's vital to the article unless we are sure. If sure, it's a nice piece of standard biographical data and should be included. The NNDB data might be accurate, but I'd be more comfortable with additional sourcing. -- LisaSmall T/C 18:13, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] 1951 event cross links here, but no connection

According to the 1951 article, "February 6 - Paul Harvey arrested for trying to break into Argonne National Laboratory." Seems like a significant event to not be mentioned here. Was this done by the same Paul Harvey? Stifynsemons 12:45, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

I followed the same path as you did to end up in this article, and added a link to an online news story for others who might be curious. Yes, it seems to be the same Paul Harvey. betsythedevine 12:07, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] how did paul harvey impact oklahoma

how did he impact the state of oklahoma??? 9\11/07

I believe he is included because he was born there. 71.142.91.222 04:18, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Paul Harvey (actor) disambiguation needed

I just added a stub for the notable American actor by the same name: Paul Harvey (actor) Several other pages were incorrectly linking to this one. Now somebody should add a disambiguation line to the top of this article. If nobody cares to or notices this note, then I will add it when my four-day new-user lockout is over. --Isingbass76 22:58, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

The disambiguation link has been added. Isingbass76 (talk) 04:26, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fillers

Ok, so how about a section on people who fill in for paul. His son is one. Is there a guy by the name of bill gross or something?__Mace Windu 01:29, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject class rating

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 04:59, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] arr, gone.

I do see that Argonne is mentioned above; but it is not in the actual article. Considering that it is published on a government webpage, & seemingly well written, I do not comprehend why most, or all, of it is not simply copied. With these factors the only necessary editing is regarding any format corrections to fit these pages. Is there any assertion that it is less than accurate?

I just learned of this from Keith_Olbermann, msnbc.

[edit] Paul Harvey different from Bill Stern

There was one distinct difference between Paul Harvey's Rest Of The Story and Bill Stern: Harvey at least tries to verify all of his items and would not knowingly spread an urban legend. Since this page is locked, I posted this info on the Paul Harvey Quotes stub. Also, you might want to note on external links that Paul Harvey News up to 7 days old can be heard on his official website, both morning and noon broadcast, but not Rest Of The Story, which is never archived there. He also seems to get some of his items from Ripley's Believe It Or Not, and Ripley was never proved wrong on any of his stories. Scifans (talk) 09:30, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
